  • Publication number: 20240426610
Abstract: Various examples of a closed-loop optical gyroscope are disclosed. The closed-loop optical gyroscope includes a broadband light source configured to generate broadband optical signal(s). The broadband optical signal(s) propagate in an optical resonator and are coupled in and out of the optical resonator by optical couplers. A phase modulator applies phase modulation to the optical signal(s) based on a sawtooth modulation signal. The optical signal(s) repropagate in the optical resonator in a different direction. The optical signal(s) are then received and analyzed to determine parameter(s) of the phase modulator. One or more processors configure the phase modulator based on the determined parameter(s).

  • Patent number: 12174769
Abstract: Systems, apparatuses, and methods for implementing a periodic receiver clock data recovery scheme with dynamic data edge paths are disclosed. An IQ link calibration scheme performs a non-destructive data and edge path switch to determine an IQ offset without disturbing the data. A data path and an edge path pass through multiple stages of deserializers to widen the data path, with the deserializers clocked by clock divided versions of the original data and edge clocks. To initiate a calibration routine, the edge clock is aligned with the data clock, and then data and edge paths are swapped at a common point in a slower clock domain. The data path is then calibrated while the edge path carries the data signal. After the data path is calibrated, the edge and data paths are swapped back to the original configuration.

  • Patent number: 12173427
Abstract: A method of growing single crystal diamond assisted by polycrystalline diamond growth to enhance dimensions and quality of the single crystal diamond includes thermally mating a diamond seed on a top surface of a substrate holder providing a growth surface for a combination of single crystal diamond and polycrystalline diamond. A predetermined temperature difference between the diamond seed and the substrate holder during processing along with the plasma process conditions causes a single crystal diamond growth rate to be different from a polycrystalline growth rate by a predetermined amount. Process gasses are introduced, and a plasma is formed to grow both single crystal diamond and polycrystalline diamond on the growth surface so that the polycrystalline diamond grown adjacent to the single crystal diamond shields side surfaces of the growing single crystal diamond, thereby improving growth quality across the growing single crystal diamond.

  • Publication number: 20240418939
Abstract: An electro-optic combiner includes a polarization splitter and rotator (PSR) that directs a portion of incoming light having a first polarization through a first optical waveguide (OW). The PSR rotates a portion of the incoming light having a second polarization to the first polarization to provide polarization-rotated light. The PSR directs the polarization-rotated light through a second OW. Each of the first and second OW's has a respective combiner section. The first and second OW combiner sections extend parallel to each other and have opposite light propagation directions. A plurality of ring resonators is disposed between the combiner sections of the first and second OW's and within an evanescent optically coupling distance of both the first and second OW's. Each of ring resonators operates at a respective resonant wavelength to optically couple light from the combiner section of the first OW into the combiner section of the second OW.
