  • Patent number: 12113784
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for a trusted (or originator) device to modify the security state of a target device (e.g., unlocking the device) based on a securing ranging operation (e.g., determining a distance, proximity, etc.). The method of some embodiments exchanges messages as a part of a ranging operation in order to determine whether the trusted and target devices are within a specified range of each other before allowing the trusted device to modify the security state of the target device. In some embodiments, the messages are derived by both devices based on a shared secret and are used to verify the source of ranging signals used for the ranging operation. In some embodiments, the method is performed using multiple different frequency bands.

  • Patent number: 12111397
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to a field-adjustable distance sensor configured to translate a transfer function of the sensor by a substantially constant value in a position domain by calibration at one or more known distances. In an illustrative example, the transfer function may correlate multiple distances to corresponding position vectors describing a position of a light signal on a receiver. The receiver may, for example, generate a detection signal corresponding to a position on the receiver of a light signal reflected off a target. A control circuit may, for example, generate a position vector in response to the detection signal. A calibration constant (C) may be generated, for example, as a function of a known distance of the target and position vector. C may be applied, for example, to translate the transfer function in the position domain. Various embodiments may advantageously reduce non-linear error in a distance sensor.

  • Patent number: 12109680
Abstract: A system and method for hitching, using a swivel pin, a tractor with a drawbar and a towable implement comprise a handheld tool for inserting the swivel pin through a pin-receiving portion of the drawbar and a hitch tongue of the implement when arranged in an aligned coupling configuration. The handheld tool has an upper end configured for gripping by a user and a lower end configured to removably receive the swivel pin. Furthermore, the handheld tool is configured to extend from the operator cab of the tractor to the pin-receiving portion of the drawbar of the tractor so that the handheld tool is usable by the operator to hitch the tractor and the implement with the swivel pin without leaving the operator cab. A novel swivel pin with arms for mating engagement with a receptacle in the lower end of the tool enables the pin to be rotationally releasably secured therein.

  • Publication number: 20240328783
Abstract: A photonics gyroscope comprises a light source on a photonics chip that emits a broadband beam; a waveguide resonator; a reflective component; first and second detectors, the second detector coupled to the source; a RIN servo loop coupled between the second detector and the source; and a rate calculation unit. The beam is directed into the resonator such that it propagates in a CCW direction. A portion of the CCW beam is coupled out of the resonator toward the reflective component and reflected back as a reflected beam that is coupled into the resonator such that the reflected beam propagates in a CW direction. The CW beam is coupled out of the resonator to the first detector, which detects a resonance frequency shift between the CW and CCW beams. The RIN servo loop stabilizes an intensity of the beam such that bias error and noise is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20240330004
Abstract: Disclosed herein are various embodiments, for a fast boot system. An example embodiment operates by determining that one or more programs have been loaded into memory on a boot-up of a device. A snapshot of the memory including the loaded one or more programs is captured. Operations of the device are monitored after the snapshot has been captured. It is determined that a first program of the one or more programs was updated during the monitoring. A restart of the device is detected, wherein the snapshot is loaded into the memory in lieu of loading the one or more programs, and wherein the first program is updated during the restart of the device.

  • Publication number: 20240330071
Abstract: Embodiments of the disclosure provide systems and methods for automatically tuning logical partition weights for logical partitions. A disclosed non-limiting system obtains observations of configuration and performance parameters for each of a plurality of logical partitions. For each of the plurality of logical partitions, tentative new weights are determined based on the configuration and performance parameters for each of a plurality of logical partitions. The tentative new weights are iteratively adjusted by a set weight increase and the set weight increase is subtracted from a weight points left variable until the weight points left variable reaches a threshold.
