  • Publication number: 20240302168
Abstract: A photonics gyroscope comprises a laser and a common intensity modulation unit that outputs an intensity modulated beam, split into a CCW beam having a first power level and a CW beam having a second power level. A first phase modulator (PA) receives the CCW beam, and a second PA receives the CW beam. A variable optical attenuator (VOA) is coupled to the first or second PA. The CCW beam is coupled into a resonator and the CW beam is coupled into the resonator. A first detector receives the CCW beam and a second detector receives the CW beam from the resonator. A CCW control loop locks the CCW beam, and a CW control loop locks the CW beam, to resonance peaks. The VOA receives a feedback loop signal to aid in balancing power levels between CCW and CW beams to eliminate a rate signal at an intensity modulation frequency.

  • Publication number: 20240302335
Abstract: Threaded conventional column end fittings for liquid chromatography columns do not have face seals that enable them to be used with clamping fluidic connectors. The exemplary embodiments may provide adapters that interface with conventional threaded column end fittings so that the column assembly may now be used with the clamping fluidic connectors. The adapters of the exemplary embodiments may include lock nuts for securing the adapters to column end fittings of a liquid chromatography columns. The lock nuts may include threads that bear the load of the adapter rather than the column end fitting of the chromatography column. The threads of the lock nut become the load bearing surfaces, and the load is distributed over the surfaces where the threads of the adapter engage with the threads of the lock nut.

  • Patent number: 12087092
Abstract: An aircraft-based pilot safety system (PSS) includes cameras or other gaze sensors fixed at an aircraft pilot and configured to capture an image stream focused on the pilot's eyes. The gaze sensors continually assess the gaze direction of the pilot (e.g., toward a display, instrument panel, and/or indicator within the cockpit that the pilot is currently looking at or focusing on) and thereby can establish when the pilot is executing a scan pattern and if that scan pattern is nominal for the current flight context by comparing the scan pattern to context-specific reference scan patterns. If, for example, the pilot's gaze deviates from where it should be (e.g., as determined by the current flight segment) or the current scan pattern is interrupted, the system may prompt the pilot to redirect their gaze or resume the scan pattern.

  • Patent number: 12078725
Abstract: Apparatus and associated methods relate to detecting jams when an intensity of a reflected signal exceeds a predetermined intensity threshold and an intensity window metric based on historic intensity value(s) fails to exceed an intensity window threshold for more than a predetermined time threshold. In an illustrative example, a jam detection unit (JDU) may emit a signal and detect a reflection of the signal. The JDU may, for example, compare intensity of the reflected signal to the intensity threshold. The JDU, for example, may compare the intensity threshold with at least one historic intensity value to determine the intensity window metric. If the intensity value exceeds the intensity threshold and the intensity window metric has not exceeded the intensity window threshold for longer than the time threshold, then the JDU may, for example, generate a jam signal. Various embodiments may advantageously detect jams based on intensity of a reflected signal.
