  • Publication number: 20030186099
Abstract: A battery comprising a control means and a plurality of metal-air cell assemblies that are electronically connected in parallel. Each cell assembly comprises a casing with a controllable air vent thereon and at least a metal-air cell inside the casing. The controllable air vent is closed during a battery storage period and is opened in response to a programmed signal in order to allow outside air or oxygen to enter the assembly through the air vent to activate the operation of the corresponding cell assembly. The control means, preferably including a sampling unit, a power control unit and a logic control unit, is capable of sensing the battery output voltage and sending programmed signals to open or close up the air vents at the same time or at different moments of time in a programmed fashion. The battery has an exceptionally long operating life and is particularly useful for powering microelectronic or communication devices such as mobile phones, laptop computers, and palm computers.

  • Patent number: 6585528
Abstract: A wire spacer (10) is used to reduce the cost of terminating wires (3) of a cable (2) to a cable termination connector assembly (1). The connector assembly includes the wire spacer, a dielectric housing (20), a conductive shroud (30), a printed circuit board (40) and a number of contacts (50). The contacts mount in the housing and are soldered to one end of the PCB. The wires are inserted through holes (17) of the wire spacer (10). Proper positioning of the wires is then more easily verified and stripping the wires and attaching the pair of conductors in each wire to a rear end of the PCB can then be automated. This results in lower production cost. An added advantage is the wire spacer functions as a strain relief for wires of the cable.

  • Patent number: 6203374
Abstract: A high density electrical connector of the present invention comprises a dielectric housing having a pair of retaining walls rearwardly extending therefrom, a contact module assembly received between the retaining walls, a metallic shield covering a front side of the housing, a pair of grounding portions received in the housing and a pair of metallic attaching portions for electrically connecting the shield to the grounding portion and thence to ground. The attaching portions each have a block which forms a shoulder on a lateral end thereof and a tubular part forwardly depending from the block. In assembly, the shoulders press against joining plates of the grounding portions which are supported by the retaining walls thereby guiding the tubular part and correcting offset of the grounding portions. The shoulders press against the joining plates further preventing the attaching portions from relaxing out of position after assembly. Therefore, assembly efficiency is increased.
