  • Patent number: 6179645
Abstract: A high-density electrical connector for electrically connecting a mating electrical connector is equipped with two stepped transmission boards. Each of the transmission boards forms a plurality of first conductive regions and second conductive regions alternatively arranged thereon in different rows and pitches. The first conductive regions are alternatively arranged in a first row in a first pitch for respectively electrically connecting the corresponding terminals. The second conductive regions are alternatively arranged in a second row in a second pitch wider than the first pitch for selectively electrically connecting with the wires of different diameters. Understandably, the second pitch is sufficient to keep spacing each two adjacent wires away from each other, particularly to other wider wires. A plurality of circuit traces build an electrical connecting path between the relative first and second conductive regions.

  • Patent number: 6129587
Abstract: An ultra lower profile electrical connector for electrical connection with an external plug connector includes a conductive shell, an insulative housing and a plurality of contacts. The housing is integrally and directly molded to the shell so that a planar portion of the shell is located flush with a plane as an outermost top surface of the housing, instead of a top wall. Several holder sections formed on the housing each have a least thickness only enough to efficiently lock with a latch of the external plug connector. Therefore, the profile of the entire connector assembly can be lowered more. Also, the connector assembly is suitable for a thin electrical card by means of integrally and directly molding the housing of the connector assembly to a shell for shielding the electrical card.

  • Patent number: 6127979
Abstract: The present disclosure is related to an antenna (129) adapted to receive signals in multiple frequency bands, and comprises a fixed whip antenna (406) and a helical coil antenna (408) coupled to a single feedpoint. The antenna may also include a monopole common to the fixed whip antenna and the helical coil antenna. A single matching circuit (130) is adapted to provide matching for both the whip antenna and the helical coil antenna. According to one embodiment, the antenna can also be reduced in size by attaching a disc (704) to the end of the whip portion of the antenna, while decreasing the pitch of the helical coil. Finally, a clip (210) can be used below a threaded nut of a housing to provide a feed point for the antenna to further reduce the electrical lengths of the fixed whip antenna and a helical coil antenna.

  • Patent number: 6123575
Abstract: An electrical card connector for electrically coupling with an external plug, includes an insulative housing that receives a plurality of contacts and a pair of mixed latching means therein. Each mixed latching means consists of a spring bar with a protrusion extending integrally with the housing, and a metallic spring buffer disposed inside the housing. Each spring buffer includes a spring arm portion preloaded by the spring bar at a first supporting section thereof, a second supporting section formed at a free end of the spring arm portion and spaced apart from a stopper wall formed on the housing thereby constructing the spring arm portion as a cantilevered beam. After the spring bar is progressively deformed to reach a specific deformation due to the coupling between the plug and connector, the second supporting section of the spring arm portion can abut against the stopper wall to transform the spring arm portion as a simple support beam.
