  • Patent number: 5837426
Abstract: A photolithographic process which provides reduced line widths or reduced inter-element line spaces for the circuit elements on an IC chip, allowing the IC chip to have a higher degree of integration. The photolithographic process includes a double-exposure process on the same wafer defined by placing either the same photomask at two different positions or by using two photomasks. In the first exposure process, a first selected set of areas on the photoresist layer is exposed through the photomask. In the second exposure process, the photomask is shifted to predetermined positions interleaving or overlapping the positions where the first selected set of exposed areas are formed, or alternatively a second photomask replaces the first photomask. The second photomask has a plurality of patterns arranged in positions correspondingly interleaving or overlapping the positions where the first selected set of exposed areas is formed.

  • Patent number: 5834815
Abstract: A layout structure for improving a polysilicon load resistor which has a uniform high resistance is disclosed. A polysilicon film is used as the high resistance load element so that the film has a relatively high resistance. However, the resistance of these resistors often varies. This variation can be up to two orders of magnitude. The non-uniform resistance is caused by hydrogen penetration into the polysilicon resistor. The solution of the present is to layout the SRAM cell so that the polysilicon resistor is completely covered by one of these subsequent layers. In the present invention, the polysilicon resistor is partially covered by different layers, such as a subsequent metal layer or polysilicon layer.

  • Patent number: 5823458
Abstract: The present invention relates to a cable spool with a damping brake, which has a modified central supporting axle with a combination of circular and square parts. The circular sectional part of the supporting axle is used for supporting the spool and the brake disk, the square sectional part at the axle end is used for fixing the brake clamps and for supporting to a fixture. The square sectional part at the middle of the axle will be mounted with a brake holder having square axle hole and a brake shoe. The brake force can be adjusted by a spring. During operation, the cable spool is pulled by an external force to release the cable, and a spool rib will immediately drive the brake disk, while the brake disk will be braked by the brake holder and the brake shoe. Once the external force stops pulling, the cable spool will stop rotating due to the brake force from the brake shoe. Therefore, the cable remaining on the spool will not release continually. No external power is needed to stop the spool.

  • Patent number: 5818716
Abstract: In a semiconductor manufacturing fabrication plant with production to-order type operation, hundreds of devices and various processes are managed. To provide short cycle time and precise delivery to satisfy customer expectations is a major task. A dispatching algorithm named "Required Turn Rate (RTR)" functions according to the level of current wafers in process (WIP) algorithm revising the due date for every lot to satisfy the demand from Master Production Scheduling (MPS). Further the RTR algorithm calculates the RTR of each lot based on process flow to fulfill the delivery requirement. The RTR algorithm determines not only due date and production priority of each lot, but also provides RTR for local dispatching. The local dispatching systems of each working area dispatch the lots by using required turn rate to maximize output and machines utilization.

  • Patent number: 5788587
Abstract: A centroid-adjustable golf club head, which can enable a user to strike ball more stably and accurately, is disclosed. The centroid-adjustable golf club head includes a head body, a sphericity, a floating ball and liquid with large specific weight. The head body has anti vibration and thermoplastic elastomer disposed therein and defines a screw hole at a top thereof. The sphericity is disposed in the anti vibration and thermoplastic elastomer of the head body. The sphericity has a charging spout formed on a top thereof and aligned with the screw hole of the head body; and a elastic wafer disposed between the head body and the sphericity. The floating ball is disposed in the sphericity. The liquid with large specific weight is fed from the charging spout to the sphericity. With this arrangement, the centroid of the club head can be adjusted to an appropriate position, depending to the relative position of the liquid and the floating ball.

  • Patent number: 5763316
Abstract: A process for creating field oxide isolation for the micron and sub-micron devices in the high density integrated circuits has been developed. The junction leakage problem resulted from the trenches in the substrate formed after the removal of the silicon nitride mask, is avoided. The encroachment of the "bird's beak" into the small active device region is also minimized by this invention. These goals are accomplished by the addition of a polysilicon or amorphous silicon refill layer in the trenches after the removal of the silicon nitride oxidation mask in the isolation region, prior to field oxide oxidation process.

  • Patent number: 5728615
Abstract: A method of manufacturing a polysilicon resistor which has a uniform high resistance includes a thermal process to increase the hydrogen concentration uniformity in the polysilicon resistor. The thermal step increases the diffusion of the hydrogen into and out of the third polysilicon, thereby helping to equalize the hydrogen concentration within the polysilicon resistor. The more uniform hydrogen concentration causes the resistance of the polysilicon resistor to be more uniform.

  • Patent number: 5719087
Abstract: A protective cap of dielectric material is deposited by plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition on the surface of electrical bonding pads of semiconductor integrated circuits prior to deposition of the final passivation layer. The protective cap serves to isolate the pad surface from electrochemical or other interaction with the etching solution used to open contact holes through the passivation layer. This prevents the formation of surface damage and residues on the pad which lead to yield and reliability problem with integrated circuits.

  • Patent number: 5660082
Abstract: The brake lever system includes a cable attachment fitting which rides within an open slot of a brake lever body which tilts away from the departure point of the brake cable as a brake lever body is pivoted away from a brake lever housing. A threaded screw or rod carried within the open slot can be adjusted to raise or lower the height of a rectangular or other block which rides without turning within the open slot and which forms an adjustable lower limit below which the cable attachment fitting cannot travel. When activated, the cable attachment fitting moves in the direction of the point of pivot and the mechanical advantage is increased to the limit permitted by the metal block within the open slot. This produces a rapid closure of the brakes during the first extent of brake engagement, and a much less rapid closure as the brake lever body is displaced from the brake lever housing.

  • Patent number: 5653278
Abstract: An automobile front and rear windshield sunshade device includes a base, a housing for containing a sunshade unit, two support arm units able to be folded in the housing and to be swung up to lift a shade curtain of the sunshade unit by rotation of a motor. When the shade curtain is lifted to shade the front or the rear windshield of an automobile, the motor is cut off by an actuating extension of the lower arm of one of the support arm unit pressing a contact block of a first contact switch. The first contact switch can be adjusted in its position to change the height the the shade curtain is lifted. The housing can be adjusted in its angle relative to the base to adapt to various angles of different front or rear windshields of automobiles.

  • Patent number: 5639342
Abstract: A patterned silicon nitride layer formed over a semiconductor integrated circuit wafer having a layer of pad oxide is often used as a mask for subsequent processing steps. Etching of the silicon nitride layer is difficult to control and can create defects in the pad oxide layer which are difficult to detect before the manufacture of the semiconductor integrated circuit wafer is completed. A method is described using potassium hydroxide treatment and scanning electron microscope evaluation of a test wafer for detection of defects at the silicon nitride etching step. Continued processing of defective wafers can be terminated and the silicon nitride etching step can be controlled using this method.
