    Abstract: The present disclosure relates to methods for performing wafer-level measurement and wafer-level binning of LED devices. The present disclosure also relates to methods for reducing thermal resistance of LED devices. The methods include growing epitaxial layers consisting of an n-doped layer, an active layer, and a p-doped layer on a wafer of a growth substrate. The method further includes forming p-contact and n-contact to the p-doped layer and the n-doped layer, respectively. The method further includes performing a wafer-level measurement of the LED by supplying power to the LED through the n-contact and the p-contact. The method further includes dicing the wafer to generate diced LED dies, bonding the diced LED dies to a chip substrate, and removing the growth substrate from the diced LED dies.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for motion vector prediction for a current block in a picture are disclosed. In video coding systems, the spatial and temporal redundancy is exploited using spatial and temporal prediction to reduce the information to be transmitted. Motion Vector Prediction (MVP) has been used to further conserve the bitrate associated with motion vector. In conventional temporal MVP, the predictor is often based on a single candidate such as the co-located motion vector in the previous frame/picture. If the co-located motion vector in the previous frame/picture does not exist, the predictor for the current block is not available. A technique for improved MVP is disclosed where the MVP utilized multiple candidates based on co-located motion vectors from future and/or past reference pictures. The candidates are arranged according to priority order to provide better availability of MVP and also to provide more accurate prediction.

In the decoding method, a non-zero history table and a sign table of each variable length decoding (VLD) result are recorded and used as a reference for decoding the next scan layer. The decoded coefficients are no longer directly stored in a memory so as to save the memory space. Accordingly, an image can be decoded and displayed correctly even with limited memory space.

The input image consists of a plurality of pixels, and the pixels are divided into an edge portion and a background portion. The image processing apparatus includes a compound operating unit, a sharpness processing unit, and an edge detecting unit. The compound operating unit is used for generating a noise-eliminated image by subjecting the input image to an open-close process and a close-open process. The sharpness processing unit is used for generating an enhanced image by subjecting the input image to a sharpness process. The edge detecting unit is used for receiving the noise-eliminated image and the enhanced image and determining whether each pixel of the input image belongs to the edge portion or the background portion, so as to selectively output the gray level of each pixel of the enhanced or noise-eliminated image.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for content adaptive offset restoration are described. In video processing system, due to various mathematic operations applied to the data, the mean intensity of the processed video data may be shifted from mean intensity of original data. The intensity offset will result in noticeable artifacts. Accordingly adaptive offset restoration is disclosed which derives intensity offset for a region of a picture based on the dynamic characteristics of underlying pixels. According to the characteristics measurement of underlying pixels, the pixels in each region are classified into classes and an intensity offset is determined for each class. The characteristics measurement may be based on pixel patterns at an underlying pixel and the characteristics may be related to edge, peak and valley at the underlying pixel. Alternatively, the characteristics measurement may be based on pixel intensity of an underlying pixel and the pixel intensity is partitioned into multiple bands for classification.

The edge detection module is used to determine each pixel to be an edge pixel or a non-edge pixel according to the first gray level and the second gray level of each pixel. The processing module is used to calculate a third gray level of each edge pixel according to a weight, the first gray level, and the second gray level; to calculate a fourth gray level of each non-edge pixel according to the weight, the first gray level, and second gray level, and to output all of the third and fourth gray levels.
