  • Publication number: 20060139914
Abstract: A light source and a method for operating the same are disclosed. The light source includes a light emitter and a controller. The light emitter generates light in response to a control signal coupled thereto. The light emitter is characterized by an age related to the amount of light that has been cumulatively generated by the light emitter, the generated light for a given control signal changing with the age. The controller measures the age of the light emitter and generates the control signal based on the desired light intensity and the measured age of the light emitter. In one embodiment, the controller stores an age value for the light emitter, and the controller determines the control signal in response to an input signal specifying a desired light intensity from the light emitter, the controller updating the age value each time the control signal is determined.

  • Publication number: 20050248271
Abstract: A light emitting device having a die that includes a light source that generates light of a first wavelength and a layer of phosphor particles covering the die is disclosed. The phosphor particles convert a portion of the light of the first wavelength to light of a second wavelength. The light source can be fabricated by attaching the light source to a substrate, and converting the light source by applying a light converting layer that includes a volatile carrier material and particles of a phosphor that convert light of the first wavelength to light of the second wavelength over the light source. The volatile carrier material is then caused to evaporate leaving a layer of the phosphor particles over the light source. A binder material can be incorporated in the volatile carrier for binding the phosphor particles to one another after the volatile carrier material is evaporated.

  • Publication number: 20050237739
Abstract: A system and method for reverse mounted light array. In one method embodiment, the present invention couples a reverse mounted light-generating source with a substrate. Additionally, the present invention couples an electrical portion of the reverse mounted light generating source with a conductive trace coupled to the reverse side of the substrate, wherein the coupling of the conductive trace with the substrate and the reverse mounted light generating source forms a reverse mounted light array.

  • Publication number: 20050006659
Abstract: A method for fabrication of a light source and the light source fabricated by that method are disclosed. The light source is fabricated by mounting a chip having a primary light source on a substrate, the primary light source emitting light of a first wavelength. The chip is connected to power terminals on the substrate for powering the primary light source. A preformed transparent cap of constant thickness is mounted over the chip. The cap includes a wavelength converting material for converting a portion of the light of the first wavelength to a second wavelength. The primary light source is preferably an LED or laser diode. In one embodiment, the cap includes a phosphor that is suspended in a clear compound. In another embodiment, the cap includes a planar sheet of a single crystal phosphor.

  • Patent number: 6180454
Abstract: In one embodiment, the present invention relates to a method of forming a flash memory device involving the steps of forming a gate oxide layer on a substrate; forming a first poly layer over the gate oxide layer; forming an insulating layer over the first poly layer, the insulating layer comprising a first oxide layer over the first poly layer, a nitride layer over the first oxide layer, and a second oxide layer over the nitride layer; forming a second poly layer over the insulating layer; forming a tungsten silicide layer over the second poly layer; etching a portion of the tungsten silicide layer and the second poly layer, wherein in the etched portion at least about 20% of the second poly is not etched, thereby partially defining at least one stacked gate structure; etching at least a portion of the insulating layer and the unetched portion of the second poly layer thereby defining at least one select gate transistor structure; forming an interlayer dielectric layer over the select gate transistor structu

  • Patent number: 5322860
Abstract: An elastic permeable material and method of making same involves a board-like basic structure made of a foam material having therein close cells. The basic structure is provided with a plurality of recesses which are filled with an emulsified foam body having therein open cells. The basic structure is subjected to a heating and then a curing before the top and the bottom layers of the basic structure are peeled off so that the recesses become through holes. The basic structure is used as a main framework while the foam bodies embedded in the through holes form a permeable framework. The elastic permeable material is provided thereon a permeable outer covering adhered thereto. The basic structure is heated under a pressure so as to bring about a reduction in the thickness of the basic structure, thereby resulting in a formation of corrugated surface of the elastic permeable material.

  • Patent number: 5238966
Abstract: A rigid PVC foam material is made from a compound containing ingredients, such as polyvinyl chloride or vinyl chloroacetate copolymer, which is mixed with 5-50 parts by weight of ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer or ionized polyethylene resin or chloro sulfo polyethylene resin, 5-50 parts by weight of acrylobutadiene rubber or acrylic butadiene-styrene rubber or isoprene or natural rubber, 1-5 parts by weight of a stabilizer, 1-30 parts by weight of a chemical foaming agent, 0.2-5 parts by weight of a bridging agent, and 1-5 parts by weight of an extrusion-aiding agent. The mixture is extruded by a rolling machine at a temperature in a range of 100-150 degrees in Celsius and is subsequently transferred to a molding tool in which it is heated under a pressure and a temperature in a range of 120-170 degrees in Celsius for 10-60 minutes so as to bring about a foaming and bridging reaction.

  • Patent number: 5230947
Abstract: A foam body is made integrally of at least a layer of foam material having great resilience and at least a layer of foam material having great capability to absorb shock. The foam material having great capability to absorb shock is made from a first mixture while the foam material having great resilience is made from a second mixture. The first and the second mixtures contain respectively 5-50% by weight of acrylobutadiene rubber, 50-95% by weight of polyvinyl chloride, a plasticizer, a bridging agent, a foaming agent, an extrusion-aiding agent and other additives. The first mixture differs from the second mixture in that the former contains less than 50 parts by weight of the plasticizer and that the latter contains more than 50 parts by weight of the plasticizer. The first and the second mixtures are stacked orderly in a mold cavity in which they are heated under pressure to foam to take shape of the foam body.
