  • Patent number: 5242329
Abstract: A contact velocity universal joint has inner and outer members, balls and a cage. The inner member and the outer member are provided with undercut-free first outer running grooves and opposing first running grooves and second outer running grooves and opposing second inner running grooves starting from different sides of the joint. To achieve the required guiding conditions for the cage, the cage control angle .beta. is always greater than 7.degree., with the cage not requiring any guidance by the outer or inner members.

  • Patent number: 5221233
Abstract: A constant velocity fixed joint for large articulation angles and a high torque capacity has an inner member and an outer member produced with undercut-free opposing first outer running grooves and first inner running grooves as well as opposing outer running grooves and second inner running grooves starting from different open end faces. To achieve a constant track depth, as possible, via the articulation angle, the webs between two circumferentially adjoining outer running grooves are divided into first and second inner faces which extend, in an undercut-free way, from the same open end face of the directly adjoining outer running grooves.

  • Patent number: 5176453
Abstract: The invention relates to a ball circulating unit (1) for a linear ball guidance device. The ball loops are formed by a multi-component cage (7). The cage (7) consists of groups of first and/or second inner segments (12) and (13). Head pieces (14) and webs (18) assist in guiding the balls (8) in the carrying portions (9) of the ball loops. The cage (7) is able to be produced by injection molding. The design of the inner segments (12, 13) permits variability in design and arrangement of the balls (8).

  • Patent number: 5156462
Abstract: A ball guide (1) has a cage (6)which is produced by coiling a strip (8). The strip (8) is pre-manufactured and includes apertures (9) to retain balls (7), for the guidance of exterior component (2) and shaft (4) relative to each other. The side edges (15) and (16) of the strip (8) are discontinuously joined with each other by spot welds. The cage (6) can additionally be equipped with a backup ring (17). The backup ring (17) is supported by the face area (18) of the cage (6). The backup ring support surface (21) serves as a contact surface for a compression spring (19). The other end of the spring is supported by the support surface (20) of a shoulder ring (22) to return the cage (6) to a center or home position. Through the use of a strip (8), the cages (6) may be produced in different diameters and lengths through a simple process.

  • Patent number: 5087133
Abstract: An arrangement for attaching running rings to a rotary drum includes straps which hold the bore surface of the rings on a supporting surface of the rotary drum. The straps are circumferentially spaced apart on at least one of the two sides of the respective ring, and each of the straps has an axial projection with a support surface facing an engagement surface of the ring, the support surface facing radially inward. In order to prevent contact wear between the bore surface of each running ring and the respective supporting surface, each engagement surface and/or support surface is inclined toward the axis of the drum, in the direction extending axially outward of the respective running ring. The support surface of each strap is axially adjustable with respect to the engagement surface of the respective running ring, so that the bore surface of the rings can be pushed locally against the supporting surface of the rotary drum by the straps.

  • Patent number: 5051001
Abstract: The invention relates to a ball circulation unit in which ball rows are guided in a multi-component cage. The cage optionally consists of first inner segments and/or second inner segments, and is complemented by head pieces which comprise webs ensuring guidance of the balls in carrying portions of two adjoining ball rows. Designing the cage in this way makes it possible to produce it from plastics applying the injection molding process. The design of the inner segments permits variation regarding the design and arrangement of the ball rows.

  • Patent number: 5044786
Abstract: In a bearing arrangement for a rotary drum, the ends of two cradles are attached to load-carrying rollers which rotate freely over a surface area of a race of the rotary drum. The cradles run in self-aligning bearings in a load-bearing structure via intermediate cradles. Each load-carrying roller runs in bearings at the end of its respective cradle, in a manner which avoids slanting and which is free of axial clearance. Each cradle runs in rocker bearing located between its two load-carrying rollers, without bearing clearance at the end of an intermediate cradle. One of the intermediate cradles runs in a journal bearing with an axial clearance equal to or larger than the axial dislocation of the load-carrying rollers in the load bearing structure when the rotary drum is in operation.

  • Patent number: 4983048
Abstract: The invention relates to a ball circulation bush having a longitudinal slot which, in its cross-section embraces an at least partially circular guiding rail. The balls of the circumferentially distributed ball rows are guided in a cage and, with their carrying portion, are arranged in a radial plane which is circumferentially offset relative to the radial plane of the balls in the returning portion. Furthermore, the balls in the returning portion are arranged on a larger diameter than those in the carrying portion. The cage is designed in several parts and includes indentically designed guiding parts and head pieces which are held relative to each other by stabilizing bars attached in bores and aligned in the solid bush via centering cams. In the regions which at the same time serves as the race for the balls in the carrying portion, the bush is designed to be thick-walled.

  • Patent number: 4978235
Abstract: A joint bearing in which a rolling member has been designed in such a way that relative to the inner race track and outer race track representing a circular arch, four contact points are obtained, the rolling member is associated with a central cylindrical portion and carrying portions which adjoin it at both ends, and has an outer contour with a radius which is osculated relative to the inner race track and the outer race track, so that a relatively small and compact joint bearing is formed which permits both an angular movement and a rotational movement while reducing friction. The four-point contact permits accurate guidance of the rolling members and eliminates the need for guiding edges.

  • Patent number: 4974969
Abstract: A ball circulation unit in which a cage guiding balls consists of inner segments and head pieces which are axially connected to each other by centering bars so as to form one unit held in the basic member. The centering bars may be fixed in the head pieces, for example, and the centering bars increase the stiffness of the cage, permit it to be manufactured from plastics and achieve accurate centering of the cage parts relative to each other, thereby ensuring undisturbed circulation of the balls in the ball rows.

  • Patent number: 4945697
Abstract: A floor or walkway has a base and an overlay on the base. The overlay includes a plurality of prefabricated tiles each of which has an upper layer designed to contact objects on the floor or walkway and a lower layer designed to bear against the base. The upper layers are composed of a ceramic while the lower layers are composed of a resilient material having anti-skid characteristics. The upper and lower layers of each tile are adhesively secured or vulcanized to one another during manufacture of the tile. The overlay is formed by simply placing the tile on the base or loosely securing the tiles to the base by means of an adhesive. If the overlay is outdoors, the same or gaps between neighboring tiles are kept open to permit water runoff. The lower layers of the tiles are then formed with drainage channels and/or open pores for the discharge of water which has passed through the seams or gaps.
