  • Patent number: 4834560
Abstract: A plural ring bearing is comprised of at least outer and inner radially superimposed rolling bearings and has an intermediate ring common to the inner and outer bearings. The outer bearing comprises an inclined roller bearing with two rows of cylindrical rollers inclined with respect to one another and to the axis of the plural ring bearing. • Patent number: 4787758
Abstract: A roller bearing having cylindrical rollers between inner and outer coaxial rings, each of the rings being an integral piece, is fully loaded by insertion of cylindrical rollers through a feed notch. To retain the cylindrical rollers against dropping back through the feed notch, a retaining ring closed in a loop is provided to rest on or in a rim retaining the rollers axially and having the feed notch. The retaining ring, which can also have a sealing part closing the end of the bearing, is mounted such that the retaining ring, the sealing ring and/or a filler piece adapted to fit directly in the feed notch, rests against the open end face of the cylindrical rollers behind the feed notch.

  • Patent number: 4778287
Abstract: The invention concerns an annular multi-row bearing with shaped-wire races with an inner and an outer race, each of which constitutes part of the tracks for the rolling components, and with rolling components accommodated between them. The particular object is, in addition to others, to create a bearing that, although stable, is resilient enough when transverse forces occur to allow both races to twist in relation to each other within certain limits, avoiding stress. The invention attains this in that the contact or rolling surfaces between the races and the rolling components are provided with a contour that deviates from the rectilinear and mutually surrounds itself and in that these contact surfaces are shaped and/or positioned such that there is a four-point bearing in each track. This principle can be embodied with either ball bearings or roller bearings, whereby only three shaped wires are preferably employed. The angles of support range, depending on the type of bearing, between approximately 30.degree.

  • Patent number: 4775190
Abstract: A hub assembly for a wheel of a motor vehicle drivable by way of a constant velocity universal joint 3, the assembly comprising an outer joint member 5 integral with a flange 2 for wheel and brake disc fitting, and a rolling element bearing assembly 1 having an inner race 6 disposed on an outer circumferential surface of the joint member, wherein the joint member and flange are integrally formed by chipless deformation fo sheet metal, the flange having circumferentially spaced reinforcing formations 8 which on one side afford abutment surfaces for the bearing inner race and, on the other side of the flange, afford abutment surfaces for the wheel and/or brake disc.

  • Patent number: 4764153
Abstract: A wheel bearing assembly, wherein a wheel bearing including an inner bearing ring and an outer bearing ring is arranged in driving connection with a universal joint, is formed with the inner bearing ring consisting of a piece which has been initially formed as a unitary member with dimensions so as to be ready for installation in the bearing assembly, with the unitary member being subsequently ruptured to form a split therein by application of pressure, thereby to form the inner bearing ring in two parts. The wheel bearing consists of a dual-row ball bearing and the inner bearing ring is formed with two races, with the split extending between the two races. A recess is formed between the two parts of the inner bearing within which there engages part of the universal joint to effect torque transmitting engagement between the joint and the wheel assembly, with the two parts of the inner bearing ring being clamped together within an assembled state, with the split therebetween extending through the recess.

  • Patent number: 4722619
Abstract: A mounting assembly for bearing races is provided which enables split races for roller bearings to be fixed on a bearing member in a space-saving system wherein the bearing member includes at least one race groove parallel to two expanding grooves such that narrow webs are left on either side of the race groove. On assembly, for example, of the inner ring of a roller bearing in the race groove, these webs are flanged or crimped against the bearing end faces such that two ends of the axially split bearing race are securely held by appropriate profiling or beveling of the end faces of the race. Assembly may be carried out by inserting a crimping wheel into the expanding grooves and crimping the webs by means of a conically deforming surface. The mounting can be advantageously applied, for example, in connection with an eccentrically drilled bearing bushing for the plain bearings of blanket cylinders in offset printing machines.

  • Patent number: 4573809
Abstract: A mounting of a shaft in the bore of a housing by two antifriction bearings mounted in a sleeve at a distance from each other, the said sleeve being arranged in the bore of a housing having a higher coefficient of thermal expansion than the mounting elements and being provided with a radially outwardly directed flange, the flange being pressed by elastic spring means against a contact surface of the housing traversed by the bore whereby frictional engagement exists between the said surface and the flange characterized in that the sleeve and housing are axially braced with the elastic spring means preferably yielding axially and abutting a housing surface plane parallel to the contact surface and radially supporting the sleeve in relation to the housing, and a method of assembling the said mounting.

  • Patent number: 4524671
Abstract: A rolling bearing arrangement for guidance of a gun barrel during longitudinal displacement comprising a gun barrel having at least three circumferential axis-parallel strips projecting radially outward, each strip having two bearing surfaces parallel to each other and to a radial plane, which in turn are associated with directly opposite bearing surfaces extending parallel thereto in a housing surrounding the gun barrel, and a flat cage containing a set of cylindrical rollers arranged between the directly opposite bearing surfaces, the two sets of rollers cooperating with a common strip being under tension by the arrangement, displaceable in a parallel manner, by at least one element carrying a bearing surface.
