  • Patent number: 12181537
Abstract: Magnetic positioning systems and methods for use in a robotic surgical system are provided. A multi-axis magnetic field source generates a magnetic field by simultaneously exciting a plurality of axes of the multi-axis magnetic field source with respective source signals that are orthogonal to each other over a period, T. A multi-axis magnetic field sensor detects the generated magnetic field. The detected magnetic field is analysed over an analysis interval which is at least as long as the period, T, to resolve the detected magnetic field into components which are due to the plurality of source signals. The components are used to determine one or both of the position and the orientation of the multi-axis magnetic field sensor relative to the multi-axis magnetic field source.

  • Publication number: 20240402137
Abstract: Acoustic inspection systems and methods are described herein useful to determining microstructural characteristics, such as microtexture regions (MTRs), of a material sample. In some embodiments, a method of determining a material characteristic of a material sample includes transmitting acoustic waves from transducer having a concave face that includes one or more piezoelectric elements through a coupling medium and to a surface of a material sample to produce surface acoustic waves along a portion of a surface of the material sample. The one or more piezoelectric elements of the concave face may operate as at least one of an acoustic transmitter or an acoustic receiver. The method also includes receiving the surface acoustic waves reflected from the surface of the material sample at the concave face. The method then includes determining at least one material characteristic of the material sample based on a property of the surface acoustic waves.

  • Patent number: 12119205
Abstract: Atomic layer etching of a substrate using a wafer scale wave of precisely controlled electrons is presented. A volume of gaseous plasma including diluent and reactive species and electrons of a uniform steady state composition is generated in a positive column of a DC plasma proximate the substrate. A corrosion layer is formed on the substrate by adsorption of the reactive species to atoms at the surface of the substrate. The substrate is positively biased to draw electrons from the volume to the surface of the substrate and impart an energy to the electrons so to stimulate electron transitions in the corrosion layer species, resulting in ejection of the corrosion layer species via electron stimulation desorption. The substrate is negatively biased to repel the electrons from the surface of the substrate back to the volume, followed by a zero bias to restore the steady state composition of the volume.
