  • Publication number: 20160318489
Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for preventing vehicle roll. In one embodiment, a method includes: determining a first switch state; determining a second switch state; evaluating the first switch state and the second switch state to determine whether a condition of a mechanical linkage between a range selection device and a transmission has occurred; and selectively generating at least one of a control signal to control an electronic park brake and a notification message based on the determination.

  • Patent number: 9200622
Abstract: A solar-nuclear hybrid plant includes a nuclear energy loop, a solar energy loop, and an electrical generation loop. The three loops are closed loops. The nuclear energy loop transfers energy to the electrical generation loop through a steam generator. The solar energy loop transfers energy to either the nuclear energy loop and/or the electrical generation loop through one or more heat exchangers in the appropriate loop. This cogeneration plant has higher efficiency compared to a nuclear power plant alone.

  • Publication number: 20150226317
Abstract: A mode selection system for switching between different operating modes of a transmission includes a rotary transmission selector for switching between a neutral mode, a forward drive mode, and a reverse drive mode. A park selector for selecting a park mode of the transmission is separate and remotely located from the rotary transmission selector. The rotary transmission selector is axially moveable along a central axis between a reference position and an axially depressed position. The rotary transmission selector is rotatable about the central axis. However, the rotary transmission selector is only rotatable about the central axis when depressed into the axially depressed position. The rotary transmission selector is mono-stable, and automatically returns to a reference position when released.

  • Patent number: 9073024
Abstract: A new accumulator for generating mixing bubbles comprises pivoting, counterbalanced buckets, the buckets receiving air directed from blowers, either directly from injectors connected to the blowers, or from diffusers used for aeration of the liquid in the tank. A bucket, weighed down by a counterbalance, receives air from injectors or diffusers below, and, as the air displaces liquid in the bucket, the buoyancy of the bucket increases until it exceeds the downward force of the counterweight, at which time the bucket pivots upward to release a large mixing bubble into the tank. An assembly for installation of the accumulator affixes the accumulator on a rigid vertical piece depending from a horizontal bridge.

  • Publication number: 20130327694
Abstract: A mixer for anaerobic decomposition of sludge in a digester, captures and compresses biogas emitted by the decomposing sludge. The compressed biogas proceeds through supply lines to gas accumulating apparatus mounted in the lower portion of the digester, close to or on the digester floor. Biogas accumulates in the gas accumulating apparatus to emerge as large mixing bubbles from 6 inches to 10 feet in diameter along their largest dimension. The mixing bubbles are large enough to generate a strong mixing current in the sludge that moves sludge as the bubbles rise to the surface. The mixing current mixes the sludge containing dissolved and suspended pollutants to promote the conversion of the pollutants by microorganisms contained in the sludge.

  • Patent number: 8558187
Abstract: An embodiment of the present disclosure provides a method and apparatus for neutron detection. The method comprises receiving neutrons into a number of sensing layers of a plurality of diodes of a number of arrays. Each diode has a sensing layer. A plurality of reactions between the neutrons and each sensing layer of the number of sensing layers are captured in a set of layers for each sensing layer in the number of sensing layers. Each sensing layer is located between the set of layers for each sensing layer. Each set of layers are intrinsic. The method also comprises generating a current pulse for each sensing layer of the number of sensing layers in response to capturing the result of a reaction between the neutrons and each sensing layer of the number of sensing layers.

  • Publication number: 20130248023
Abstract: The remotely activated fluid control system prevents damage from leaking fluids (such as water or gas) escaping from damaged pipes by providing a user-activated controlling device that allows the user to activate a remote inline first shut-off valve in the main fluid supply line, such as when leaving the building. An integrated shut-off delay function delays the fluid shut off a preset amount of time to accommodate a currently running appliance, such as a dishwasher that needs to draw water to finish its cycle. An optional function is provided that allows a residual fluid flow to accommodate appliances that use a minimal flow to maintain normal operation. Optionally, a display control panel is provided to display system data from a flow measuring device and water temperature sensors. Optionally, a single engagement of the user-activated controlling device may restrict the fluid flow in one or multiple flow interface systems.
