Abstract: The disclosed apparatus, systems and methods relate to the design principles for forming a welded joint between two sections of tubing or pipe. The material at the end portion of a first section of tubing to is folded inwardly to create a support surface. This support surface improves the ability to weld light gage material with traditional arc welding and it creates conditions to allow brazing to be as strong as traditional arc welding by using A shaped piece of filler material which is located at the intersection between the support surface of the first section of tubing and a side wall section of the second section of tubing. While holding together the first and second sections of tubing with the filler material, heat is applied at the intersection at a temperature and for a duration sufficient to melt the filler material and form the 3t joint.

Abstract: Inventive concentrated solar power systems using solar receivers, and related devices and methods, are generally described. Low pressure solar receivers are provided that function to convert solar radiation energy to thermal energy of a working fluid, e.g., a working fluid of a power generation or thermal storage system. In some embodiments, low pressure solar receivers are provided herein that are useful in conjunction with gas turbine based power generation systems.

Abstract: A portable electrosurgical device (ESD) has a housing, a probe connected to the housing and a heating element connected to the probe for destroying human tissue. The heating element is detachable from the probe and/or the probe with heating element can be detachable from the housing. The user can set a drive signal's electrical characteristics, such as operating frequency, duty cycle, peak voltage and the like for a customized drive signal formed in the ESD based on the heating element used. Memory storage allows for storage of inputted data from a keyboard, downloaded reference documents and information off the Internet from an Ethernet connector that can be displayed for reference on a screen of the ESD. Another even more compact ESD is an integral one-piece portable device having a type of pistol hand-held grip, dis-connectable probe, and a rechargeable, removable battery in the handle provides approximately 30, one-minute treatments on a single battery charge.

The piezoelectric quartz crystal resonator comprises a circuit board, a quartz crystal resonator, and a thermistor; wherein, the thermistor is configured to detect a temperature of the quartz crystal resonator, the thermistor and the quartz crystal resonator are arranged on the circuit board and interconnected with each other via electric wires arranged on the circuit board; the thermistor and the quartz crystal resonator are sealed independently from each other by thermoplastic material, and the thermoplastic material sealing the thermistor is in contact with the thermoplastic material sealing the quartz crystal resonator.

The method involves communicating data from the transmitter to the receiver over a banded communication channel The method comprises: applying a forward error correction, FEC, code to data to be transmitted to obtain FEC-encoded data; assigning the FEC-encoded data into a plurality of sub-channels; modulating the data from each of the plurality of sub-channels into a corresponding one of a plurality of sub-bands, the plurality of sub-bands having spaced apart center frequencies; and concurrently transmitting the data from the plurality of sub-bands onto a banded communication channel, the banded communication channel comprising one or more pass-bands and one or more stop-bands.

Abstract: A deployable drain cover system and method for installing the same are provided. The drain cover system can include at least one cover plate having at least one hole formed therethrough. A top plate also having a hole formed therethrough can be disposed on an upper surface of the cover plate. A fastener having a gripping mechanism located on a lower portion thereof can be disposed through the holes of the top plate and the cover plate. A block can be used to hold the gripping mechanism to the fastener. The cover plate is preferably made of a fiber reinforced plastic such as fiberglass.
