  • Publication number: 20070157977
Abstract: A control assembly for use with a gas control body for a pressurized gas container provides both a selective gas control function and a safety shutoff function. A shutoff control member is selectively shiftable within the housing between flow-admitting and flow-closing positions. An automatic shutoff is carried by the shutoff control member for movement of the shutoff element in and out of sealing relationship relative to the inlet in response to gas pressure at the inlet, being responsive to gas pressure at the inlet to cause blocking flow from the inlet by the seat if inlet pressure is less than a predetermined cutoff pressure.

  • Publication number: 20060162104
Abstract: A multilayer ceramic carrier for an optical element includes a terraced cavity for retaining a vertically receiving or vertically emitting optical element. The multilayer ceramic carrier includes conductive traces interposed between the ceramic layers and which extend into the terraced cavity along the trenches formed in the cavity. A vertical cavity surface emitting laser or vertically receiving optical element is wire bonded to the conductive traces which extend into the cavity. In one embodiment, the terraced cavity of the multilayer ceramic carrier includes a VCSEL and photodetector therein, the photodetector capable of monitoring the output optical power of the VCSEL. The method for forming the multilayer ceramic carrier includes forming a plurality of layers of ceramic tape, joining the layers, then co-firing the stacked layers. The multilayer ceramic carrier is joined to a plastic optical housing which includes an aperture for securing an optical fiber.

  • Patent number: 7022648
Abstract: The present invention is directed to new compositions of matter comprising the reaction products of a carboxylic acid and a urea having the formula where R1, R2, R3 and R4 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, substituted and unsubstituted alkyl, allyl, vinyl and alkoxyl groups having from 1–6 carbon atoms, substituted and unsubstituted phenyl groups and the halides. Preferably, the reaction product of the present invention is N,N?-diformylurea or N,N?-diacetylurea. These reaction products, e.g., diformylurea, have been found to produce significantly improved growth in a variety of agricultural products when applied to the seed, to the surrounding soil or to the foliage of the emerging plant. Because of the similarity in the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen structure of these reaction products with many biological compounds, it is believed that the reaction products of the present invention may find use in a variety of biological applications.

  • Patent number: 6940916
Abstract: The present invention is related to methods and apparatus that compensate for quadrature impairments of an analog quadrature modulator and/or demodulator over a relatively wide signal bandwidth. One embodiment pre-distorts baseband signals in a quadrature modulator compensation signal processor (QMCSP) to negate the quadrature impairment of an analog quadrature modulator and corrects a received baseband signal in a quadrature demodulator compensation signal processor (QDCSP) to cancel the quadrature impairment of an analog quadrature demodulator. The QMCSP and the QDCSP contain adaptive digital filter correction structures that pre-compensate and post-compensate, respectively, for the quadrature impairments introduced by the analog quadrature modulator and the analog quadrature demodulator over a relatively wide bandwidth.

  • Publication number: 20050171700
Abstract: A device for calculating 3D seismic classification features constrained to be tangent to a path in a 3D volume is provided as a “geo-operator”. The method has the capability to associate horizontal (2D), vertical (2D) or arbitrary (3D) classification “feature vectors” with the geo-operator output, to allow determining where the geo-operator has sufficient data for the calculation to form a valid output and where the output of the geo-operator indicates a measure to which alternative feature vector prototypes may be present along the path. The geo-operator has the flexibility of using variable crossline, inline and vertical extent and having a direction able to be designated as it traverses the path, from the start point to the endpoint, aligned to be tangent to the path.

  • Patent number: 6905770
Abstract: A method of protecting a glazed frame mounted document from the ravages of light and a fade protector therefore, the protector comprising a transparent UV absorbing polymeric film layer, preferably PET, having a thickness such that the film in use remains substantially flat against the glazing when clamped between the frame and glazing, the film layer being coated on its exposed side in use with a transparent anti-glare hard coating. The glazing is removed from the glazed frame, the fade protector is placed against a surface of the glazing which is then re-assembled in the frame with the fade protector adjacent the eternal surface of the glazing with the anti-glare coating facing outwardly.

  • Publication number: 20050094951
Abstract: An optically transparent, hermetic coating is locally formed on die and other components already assembled in an existing nonhermetic structure. The local hermetic sealing of an OSA includes providing an OSA having at least one exposed optoelectronic component, and providing a paralene source. The method provides for positioning a mask between the paralene source and the OSA, the mask including an opening aligned with a first region of the OSA. The first region includes at least one of the exposed optoelectronic components. The paralene source is then caused to generate paralene such that a permanent paralene coating is deposited through the opening and on the first region of the OSA. The permanent paralene coating essentially hermetically seals the first region. The permanent paralene coating is chosen to be transparent to the wavelength of light emitted and/or used in the optical sub-assembly.
