  • Patent number: 4877291
Abstract: An improved reclining chair including a base frame having spaced arm rests, a back frame pivotally mounted on the arm rest, a seat frame hingedly connected to the back frame at a point below the pivot connection of the back frame to the arm rest and having its front connected by an elongated linkage to the arm rest, the arm rest, elongated link, seat frame and back frame acting as a substantially parallelogram support linkage for the seat, and an elongated fluid spring cylinder having one end pivotally connected to a rigid frame member extending beneath the seat and its other end pivotally connected to the back frame at a point below the hinged seat and back connection and a manually actuated control for locking the spring cylinder at any desired position of the chair between a fully upright and a fully reclined position.

  • Patent number: 4856281
Abstract: A solar power plant and still is disclosed in which a heat source for a Rankine Cycle engine is provided by a shallow pond which is covered by a sheet of suitable material, i.e., plastic; and which has a layer of air between the pond and the cover, flowing in accordance with a flue-induced motion, and moving water vapor from the pond through the flue. Because both the ambient air and the water supply enter at the periphery of the pond, at a location remote from the flue, their temperature gradients both rise from the pond periphery toward the flue.

  • Patent number: 4096707
Abstract: A portable refrigeration machine includes a vertically oriented pressure vessel containing carbon dioxide in gaseous, liquid and/or solid states. A heat exchanger is secured to the lower external portion of the vessel and an outer housing surrounds the vessel to leave an annulus between the exterior wall of the vessel and the interior wall of the housing. A gas pressure operated fan is disposed beneath the heat exchanger and connected for operation by gas pressure from the vessel to rotate. The fan draws in air through appropriate lower inlet openings which air passes through the heat exchanger and annulus out outlet opening to thereby cool and circulate the air in a compartment within which the portable refrigeration machine is placed.

  • Patent number: 3966101
Abstract: A camera support includes an arm engaging section which is attached to and embraces the forearm of one using the support and a base to which a camera is attached and which projects outwardly from the arm engaging section. Persons having the use of only one hand can operate a camera mounted on the support since it is unnecessary for them to hold the camera manualy and they can, therefore, use their hand to manipulate the camera controls, while persons having the use of both hands will have both hands free. Aside from eliminating the necessity of holding the camera, the support steadies the camera and is particularly helpful in this regard when using attachments such as a telephoto lens, which are usually somewhat awkward to handle.
