  • Publication number: 20060094585
Abstract: Isopipes for use in making sheet glass by a fusion process are provided which exhibit reduced sag. The isopipes are composed of a zircon refractory which has a mean creep rate (MCR) at 1180° C. and 250 psi and a 95 percent confidence band (CB) for said mean creep rate such that the CB to MCR ratio is less than 0.5, the MCR and the CB both being determined using a power law model. The zircon refractory can contain titania (TiO2) at a concentration greater than 0.2 wt. % and less than 0.4 wt. %. A concentration of titania in this range causes the zircon refractory to exhibit a lower mean creep rate than zircon refractories previously used to make isopipes. In addition, the variation in mean creep rate is also reduced which reduces the chances that the zircon refractory of a particular isopipe will have an abnormally high creep rate and thus exhibit unacceptable sag prematurely.

  • Publication number: 20060089546
Abstract: A non-intrusive physiological data measurement system and method, as well as an optically induced treatment system, are described. The measurement system includes a monitoring mechanism that includes light emitter modules capable of emitting light at at least two wavelengths. The light emitted from the light emitter modules is transmitted through a subject and to a light receiving mechanism, such as an optical sensor. Physiological data is taken from the received light. The system also can ascertain movement of the subject by obtaining an initial outline of the subject and comparing that outline with a subsequently obtained outline. A therapeutic optic system includes a non-adhering light emitting mechanism for providing light at therapeutic wavelengths.

  • Patent number: 6896070
Abstract: A coupling mechanism for a work vehicle includes a coupler frame for mounting to the work vehicle and a pair of dual hook members mountable on the frame. Each dual hook member has a body with first and second hooks projecting from opposite ends the body. The ends of the body define a body plane extending therebetween. The first and second hooks project on the same side of the body plane. Each hook forms a coupling recess, and each of the recesses opens away from the body plane. The first hook is smaller than the second hook. The dual hook member is mountable in a first orientation wherein the first hook is in an operative position and is mountable in a second orientation wherein the second hook is in an operative position.

  • Patent number: 6228198
Abstract: A method of producing at least two single wire tyre bead cores comprising drawing off at least two bead wires from separate coils (20) of wires, passing the wires through wire processing means (23) to coat the drawn-off wires with rubber material, passing the rubber-coated wires through first festooner apparatus (24) and subsequently winding the rubber-coated wires on a former (36) to create at least two single wire tyre bead cores on the former. Before the wires are passed through the first festooner apparatus (24) they are joined together in the wire processing means (23). The joined together rubber coated wires are split (at 30) after passing through the first festooner apparatus (24) and, after being split, are passed through second festooner apparatus (31) before being wound on the former (36). The invention also relates to apparatus for producing at least two single wire tyre bead cores.

  • Patent number: 5884443
Abstract: A protective cover for the ends of reinforcing bars has a cylindrical tube having upper and lower ends. A cap is mounted on the upper end of the tube and is comprised of a continuous circular wall extending upwardly and outwardly from the upper end of the tube, with a bottom covering the top of the tube. A post extends upwardly from the center of the bottom, and a plurality of spaced rib elements are secured to and extend radially outwardly from the post for connection to the wall. A canopy is secured to the upper edge of the wall and extends slightly downwardly therefrom. The canopy has a circular perimeter which has a downwardly extending circular flange extending therearound. The ribs are tied together by secondary ribs. Friction bars are located within the tube to create friction between the tub and a bar upon which it is mounted.

  • Patent number: 5788843
Abstract: A structure for treating water used in public water supplies for removing dissolved gases. The installation includes a closed outer tank for storage of water and a vented inner tank for water aeration contained at least partially within the outer tank. The inner tank includes a column of packing media for aerating the water which is delivered from the ground water source to a point above the column. A flow of air is delivered into the outer tank above the water level, and an air inlet causes air to flow into the inner tank and through the column in counter-current flow to the water. The air is then vented to the atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 5171498
Abstract: A cement-bonded particle board with finer particles concentrated at the surfaces of the board and coarser particles concentrated within the board is formed by spreading the particulate material onto a moving carrier (50), the particulate material initially being projected in a first generally horizontal direction above the carrier and allowed to fall gravitationally without interacting with any fixed surface, whilst the falling particles are subjected to a through-flow of air [B] immediately above the carrier in a second direction opposite to that in which the particles are initially projected, the coarser particles being projected preferentially in said first direction and the finer particles being carried preferentially in said second direction by the airstream [B] to effect a second stage of separation.

  • Patent number: 4776141
Abstract: The present invention has a flange integrally formed with the wall which supports the glazed surfaces. The flange carries four ribs which are inclined toward the wall to form channels to carry any water which may pass through the roofing material away from the opening for the skylight unit. Further, the present invention uses wicking material to absorb any condensate on the interior of the glazed surfaces and carry the condensate out through the wall on the lower end of the unit.
