  • Patent number: 4678200
Abstract: The platform comprises a single base member secured to the upper surface of a ski at a predetermined location along the length thereof; a first plate disposed substantially parallel to and spaced a first predetermined distance above the base member to support the toe portion of both feet of a skier; a second plate disposed substantially parallel to and spaced a second predetermined distance above the base member in a predetermined longitudinal spaced relationship with the first plate to support the heel portion of both feet of the skier; a first column extending at a first predetermined angle from the base member to the first plate to support the first plate above the base member; a second column extending at a second predetermined angle from the base member to the second plate to support the second plate above the base member; and a rigid bar-like member secured to and extending between the first and second plates.

  • Patent number: 4674765
Abstract: The ski comprises an elongated body member having an upwardly turned tip portion on one end of the body member, a tail portion on the other end of the body member, a lower gliding surface extending between the tip portion and the tail portion and an upper surface coextensive with the lower surface. The upper surface includes a raised portion at a predetermined location between the tip portion and the tail portion with this raised portion being integral with the remainder of the upper surface and being capable of supporting at least one foot of a skier.

  • Patent number: 4033339
Abstract: A novel side-posture table for use by chiropractors and other members of the healing arts in order to relieve the patient from the pain and suffering resulting from displaced portions of the upper-cervical section of his or her spine. A novel headrest portion is provided, with respect to which the head of the patient can be painlessly immobilized, thus enabling the chiropractor to apply adjustic thrusts as may be necessary in the proper treatment of a patient without the patient's head tending to move undesirably at such times, which motion would have the effect of greatly diminishing the value of the adjustment being made. Inasmuch as accurate and very precise movements of the atlas vertebra are to be brought about, the design of our machine is such as to enable the patient to lie on either side, facing the direction appropriate for his circumstances.

  • Patent number: 4022482
Abstract: A ski device is provided for permitting a skier to ski on one ski with his other ski (or with his boot if he is not wearing a second ski) being supported in an elevated position and out of contact with the skiing surface. The present invention includes a generally L-shaped bracket having a first portion that is adapted to support either the skier's boot or the skier's ski that is not being used. A second portion of the bracket is coupled to the other ski of the pair or ski boot. The accessory aspect of the present invention can be interchangeably used with either leg of a skier. In one embodiment of the invention, the bracket is secured to a mounting member that is positioned on the ski. In another embodiment of the invention, the bracket is coupled to the boot of the ski that is being used, while in a third embodiment the bracket is mounted directly to the ski that is being used. The bracket may be mounted by means of spring clips, screws or other suitable fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4022491
Abstract: A novel ski apparatus is disclosed wherein both of a skier's boots may be movably supported and accommodated on a single ski. Support means are rigidly secured to the ski and a pair of side-by-side, relatively slidable plate means are mounted on the support means. A heel and toe clamp assembly is secured to each plate means and each of the assemblies is longitudinally movable together with its associated plate means so that the skier may selectively advance one or the other boot relative to the remaining boot in accordance with the skiing requirements at a particular time, such as traverse situations. The plate means are retained in and guided by channel-type means that assure their free and accurate sliding movement and means are also provided for limiting the longitudinal movement of the plate means and, therefore, the skier's boots.

  • Patent number: 4001264
Abstract: Novel water-insoluble enzyme complexes are provided which comprise a penicillin acylase enzyme adsorbed on a water-insoluble polymer substrate which is a polymer or copolymer of methacrylic acid and cross-linked with a cross-linking agent selected from glutaraldehyde, glyoxal and formaldehyde. The complexes are useful in the production of 6-APA from penicillins G and V.
