  • Patent number: 10158057
Abstract: Packaged chip-on-board (COB) LED arrays are provided where a color conversion medium is distributed within a glass containment plate, rather than silicone, to reduce the operating temperature of the color conversion medium and avoid damage while increasing light output. A lighting device is provided comprising a chip-on-board (COB) light emitting diode (LED) light source, a light source encapsulant, a distributed color conversion medium, and a glass containment plate. The COB LED light source comprises a thermal heat sink framework and at least one LED and defines a light source encapsulant cavity in which the light source encapsulant is distributed over the LED. The glass containment plate is positioned over the light source encapsulant cavity and contains the distributed color conversion medium. The light source encapsulant is distributed over the LED at a thickness that is sufficient to encapsulate the LED and define encapsulant thermal conduction paths.

  • Publication number: 20180339119
Abstract: An inhaler for delivery of a medicament by inhalation is disclosed. The inhaler comprises a dose counting mechanism comprising a counter. The inhaler further comprises a dispensing mechanism, the dispensing mechanism being configured, on actuation, to dispense a dose of medicament and to adjust the counter. The inhaler further comprises a resetting member configured for movement in a first direction between a first position and a second position to reset the dispensing mechanism, and a prevention mechanism comprising a pair of first and second engaging members. If the movement of the resetting member in the first direction is reversed before it reaches the second position, the first and second engaging members prevent further actuation of the dispensing mechanism until the resetting member is again moved in the first direction. At least one of the first and second engaging members is configured to resiliently flex, under load, into abutment with a substantially rigid component of the inhaler.

  • Publication number: 20180316430
Abstract: A system and method for communicating personal information of a first user with a second user, without the need for the first user and second user to interact verbally or in any other manner. The first user stores personal information on a server, for example a web server, which is addressable using a URL or other addressing function. The first user causes the network address information to be transmitted in an electromagnetic signal, whereupon it is received by a second user's receiving device and a client of the second user is directed to a network location storing the first user's personal information. The first user's personal information is then displayed to the second user. The system and method of the invention are useful for social networking and other purposes. The transmitted signal may be encoded in Morse code, where differing colors of light represent code elements.

  • Patent number: 10089643
Abstract: Clients can develop surveys on a client machine, and send a hosting server details about the survey that will be provided to a survey participant. The survey details can include information identifying a media item to be streamed to the survey participant as part of the survey, survey questions, and timing related to the survey questions. The hosting server can determine a length of time between a time when a survey participant begins viewing the media item, or when some other action is performed, and a time when survey questions are answered. The survey participant can be ranked based on the time difference. The time at which survey questions are displayed, and which questions are displayed, can be tied to how much of a media item the survey participant has viewed.

  • Publication number: 20180214071
Abstract: Dimensions of a surface feature are determined by capturing an image of the surface feature and determining a scale associated with the image. Structured light may be projected onto the surface, such that the position of structured light in the captured image allows determination of scale. A non-planar surface may be unwrapped. The surface may alternatively be projected into a plane to correct for the scene being tilted with respect to the camera axis. A border of the surface feature may be input manually by a user. An apparatus and system for implementing the method are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 9983376
Abstract: High-data-rate interconnect cables are disclosed, wherein electrical data signals are transmitted in a conductor assembly made of a thin metal layer surrounding a cylindrical support member. The cylindrical support member can be a high-resistivity conductor or a dielectric, such as a glass optical waveguide that supports the transmission of optical signals. The cylindrical support member can also be a core conductor that supports the transmission of electrical power and low-frequency auxiliary signals. The high-data-rate interconnect cables are self-equalizing, so that a data link transmission system that employs the high-data-rate interconnect cable does not require active equalization.
