  • Publication number: 20060290089
Abstract: A suspension system for supporting fore-and aft extending frame members of a vehicle chassis on a hollow axle, the system on one side of the vehicle being duplicated on the opposite side. Included in the suspension on each side are: (1) a frame bracket for pivotally supporting the fore or leading end of an asymmetric leaf spring; (2) a spring end support mounted on the frame side member for supporting the aft or trailing end of the leaf spring, and (3) a suitable assembly for attaching the leaf spring at a location intermediate its opposite ends to the axle so that the spring is divided into two cantilever limbs extending in opposite directions from the center line of the axle. The spring is formed so that one of the cantilever limbs has a stiffness substantially greater than the stiffness of the other limb. In all forms, at least one leaf of the asymmetric spring extends the full length of the spring.

  • Patent number: 7121408
Abstract: A stacking support for at least one row of wine bottles is of sheet-like form with indentations (10) shaped to receive and locate at least one row of bottles in parallel relationship in a first layer. The indentations (10) are so arranged that when a second like support for carrying a second layer will be laterally offset with respect to those of the first layer so that the bottles of the second layer will be supported by the bottles of the first layer. The support is so configured that when it is used in conjunction with the second like support (16) the two supports (16) cooperate to ensure anti-sagging support in the zone of the endmost bottle-carrying indentation (10e) of the second layer only partially supported by the first layer.

  • Publication number: 20060137581
Abstract: This invention concerns the production of so called “hand tufted rugs”, carpets and wall hangings by use a “tufting machine” which employs a single hollow needle through which yarn is fed into a backing fabric, to form tufts of yarn. The machine comprises a yarn cutter, in the tufting head, which is selectively operable to cause the tufts to be cut or loop pile. A computer operated motion control system is operable under the control of a machine readable tufting design pattern comprising a series of vectors and associated control codes, to drive the tufting gun as follows: (a) to operate the mechanism and reciprocate the needle to insert tufts into backing fabric. (b) to operate the movement system and move the needle across a two-dimensional plane while inserting tufts, in accordance with the vectors. (c) to lift and lower the foot, in accordance with respective control codes. And, (d) to selectively operate the yarn cutter, in accordance with respective control codes.

  • Publication number: 20060106548
Abstract: A method of facilitating biomolecular interaction measurements includes attaching an interaction species fluidic router to a substrate. A set of interaction species samples is routed through the interaction species fluidic router to produce a coated sensor surface with multiple reaction zones corresponding to the interaction species samples. The interaction species fluidic router is then removed from the substrate. A multi-sample fluidic router is then connected to the substrate. A set of fluidic samples is then directed through the multi-sample fluidic router to the multiple reaction zones. Optical signals corresponding to the resultant biomolecular interactions are then collected. The optical signals are subsequently processed to characterize the biomolecular interactions.

  • Publication number: 20060060966
Abstract: Nanochannel electrophoretic and electrochemical devices having selectively-etched nanolaminates located in the fluid transport channel. The normally flat surfaces of the nanolaminate having exposed conductive (metal) stripes are selectively-etched to form trenches and baffles. The modifications of the prior utilized flat exposed surfaces increase the amount of exposed metal to facilitate electrochemical redox reaction or control the exposure of the metal surfaces to analytes of large size. These etched areas variously increase the sensitivity of electrochemical detection devices to low concentrations of analyte, improve the plug flow characteristic of the channel, and allow additional discrimination of the colloidal particles during cyclic voltammetry.

  • Publication number: 20060005383
Abstract: A method of forming a printed circuit card with a metal power plane layer between two photoimageable dielectric layers is provided. Photoformed metal filled vias and plated through holes are in the photopatternable material, and signal circuitry is on the surfaces of each of the dielectric materials connected to the vias and plated through holes. A border may be around the card including a metal layer terminating in from the edge of one of the dielectric layers. Copper foil with clearance holes is provided. First and second layers of photoimageable curable dielectric material are on opposite sides of the copper. Patterns are developed on the first and second layers of the photoimageable material to reveal the metal layer through vias. Through holes are developed where holes were patterned in both dielectric layers.
