  • Publication number: 20110293419
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for harvesting wind energy from air exhausted by other systems. Ventilation and heat exchange systems force air movement using fans. Exhaust airflow may also be the result of a combustion system. The exhaust air is generally wasted as it is diffused back to the atmosphere. Significant energy may be recovered from this exhaust air using relatively small turbines inserted into the airflow. Careful positioning of the turbine maximizes the recovery efficiency.

  • Publication number: 20110282867
Abstract: Image management applications allow users to upload, modify, organize, search, and/or share images. Unfortunately, current image management applications may have separate search modes and tagging modes. Accordingly, one or more systems and/or techniques for providing a user with a seamlessly integrated search, view, and/or tag experience are disclosed herein. Search results comprising tagged images and untagged images may be provided in response to a user search query. The untagged images may be contextually relevant to features of the tagged images and/or the user search query. Tagging suggestions for untagged images may be presented that allow a user to confirm or deny a tagging suggestion for an untagged image. Additionally, confirmable thumbnails corresponding to the untagged images may be presented. A confirmable thumbnail may allow a user to confirm or deny tagging a corresponding untagged image.

  • Patent number: 7864417
Abstract: A telescope having a focus display includes a tube assembly, a sensor and a focus display. The tube assembly has a first tube and a second tube connected within the first tube. The first tube has an opening. The sensor is provided on the second tube. The focus display is provided in the opening of the first tube. The focus display is provided with a screen, a processing unit and an electromagnetic sensing unit. The electromagnetic sensing unit, the processing unit and the screen are electrically connected with each other. When the first tube is telescopically moved with respect to the second tube, the electromagnetic sensing unit receives and senses the change in the electromagnetic field of the sensor. The processing unit then calculates the displacement and displays the data on the screen, so that the user can focus the telescope to obtain the clearest image.

  • Patent number: 7666355
Abstract: The present invention provides a bar-code driven, completely automated, microplate-based analyzer system for performing chemical, biochemical or biological assays. The analyzer is a modular, bench-top instrument that compactly integrates subsystems for sample dispensing, liquid handling, microplate transport, thermal incubation, vortexing, solid phase separation and optical reading. An internal processor is included for automating the instrument, and a user interface to facilitate communication with the operator via a touch-sensitive liquid-crystal display (LCD), and communicating with a remote network via multiple protocols. The analyzer includes firmware resident within the processing system and the user interface allows the operator to select pre-defined assay batch protocols and the user interface is configured in such as way so as to restrict an operator from programming the firmware.

  • Publication number: 20100014160
Abstract: An extendable telescope comprises a main barrel having a compensation lens group thereinside; an auxiliary barrel slidably disposed within the main barrel, the auxiliary barrel having a main lens group thereinside corresponding to the compensation lens group; and an assembling structure disposed on an end of the main barrel, the assembling structure being corresponding to the compensation lens group and the main lens group. Further, an image capturing unit can be assembled on the assembling structure. By the above-mentioned structure, no moment generates on the end of the main barrel and thus the main barrel and the auxiliary barrel carry their straight states to maintain the precision of the focal length.

  • Publication number: 20060085959
Abstract: The machine tool structure of the invention is : saddle which can slide toward X axle direction set at the machine table; bed which can slide toward Y axle direction set at the saddle; door type machine pole which includes vertical and horizontal poles set at the bed; a machine head which can load cutting main shaft and can only move toward Z axle direction but not Y axle direction at horizontal pole set at the horizontal pole; the center of the lead screw leaning into one side near machine pole of the plane surface which is created by the sliding rail between the machine head and machine pole; this causes the gravity center of the machine head moving toward the machine pole.

  • Patent number: 6900932
Abstract: An optical gain flattening filter for attenuating the wavelength power levels of an optical beam to a threshold value. The filter has a series of volume phase gratings which each have a loss spectrum. The sum of the loss spectra for the volume phase gratings is about equal to the opposite of the gain spectrum of the optical amplifier. As the optical beam passes through the volume phase gratings, the sum of the loss spectra is added to the gain spectrum of the optical amplifier such that the optical beam is attenuated to the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20040105144
Abstract: An optical amplifier system for amplifying an input wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical signal with a first optical coupler to extract a portion of the power of the input signal, an erbium-doped fiber amplifier to generate an output signal and a second optical coupler to extract a portion of the power of the output signal. A spectral monitoring unit having a volume phase grating separates the extracted input and output signals into spectral components. A photo-detector array of the spectral monitoring unit determines the power level of the spectral components. The system further includes a controller operative to control the operation of the amplifier in response to the power levels of the spectral components.

  • Publication number: 20030123791
Abstract: A device for expanding the wavelength band of an optical component is disclosed. The device has a beam splitter for splitting a wavelength division multiplexed beam into two beams at a desired separation angle. An optical grating separates the two beams into spectral components for each beam. The spectral components are focused on a receiving surface. The separation angle between the two beams expands the wavelength band of the WDM signal.

  • Patent number: 6454868
Abstract: A desmear process for removing resin smeared on an interior wall of a through hole drilled in a resinous substrate, especially resinous substrates made from epoxy, polyimide, cyanate ester resins or bis-maleimide triazine epoxy resins. The process involves contacting the resin smear with a mixture of gamma-butyrolactone and water to soften the resin smear, followed by treatment with an alkaline permanganate solution to remove the softened resin, and treatment with an aqueous acidic neutralizer to neutralize and remove the permanganate residues. The gamma-butyrolactone is effective as a single solvent for softening and swelling resin smears from substrates made from epoxy, polyimide, cyanate ester resins, bis-maleimide triazine epoxy resins, and polyimide resins.
