  • Patent number: 12345633
Abstract: A method for characterizing gas emissions includes measuring first and second optical beams to generate first and second absorption signals, respectively. Each of the optical beams is transmitted from a center point and retroreflected back to the center point. Paths of the optical beams define boundaries of a sector. Based on the absorption signals, an emission rate of a gas from within the sector is determined. If the emission rate exceeds a threshold, a third optical beam is measured to generate a third absorption signal. The third optical beam is transmitted from the center point and retroreflected back to the center point. The third optical beam propagates along a path that divides the sector into first and second subsectors. Based on the first, second, and third absorption signals, a location of a source of the gas is identified as being within the first subsector or the second subsector.

  • Publication number: 20250206436
Abstract: An aircraft including a wing with a fixed wing portion and a wing tip device rotatably hingedly attached at a fixed wing portion outboard end. The wing includes a wing fold mechanism configured to actuate the wing tip device to rotate relative to the fixed wing portion to at least three commanded and predetermined wing fold angles and to restrain rotational movement of the wing tip device at each commanded position. A first position corresponds to high-speed flying, a second position to ground-based operations and a third position to low-speed flying. The flying positions rotate the wing tip to a position where upper and lower wing tip surfaces are continuations of the upper and lower surfaces of the fixed wing, with a low-speed incidence angle being less than a high-speed incidence angle. The ground-based position reduces the wing span to the greatest degree of the three positions.

  • Patent number: 12340967
Abstract: Techniques for adjusting the shape of an ion beam are described. Characteristics of a desired beam shape may be defined. The ion beam generator may include beam shaping elements associated with tunable parameters that can be set in combination with each other. A search space for the possible combinations is defined. A set of exploratory points in the search space are measured and used to interpolate a large number of interpolated points based on a regression model. Interpolated points that are associated with low confidence values may be measured. Based on the measured and interpolated points, clusters of tunable parameter combinations may be identified for evaluation. The clusters are evaluated for stability and sensitivity, and one of the clusters is selected based on the evaluation. The ion beam generator may be configured based on the selected cluster.
