  • Patent number: 4913751
Abstract: An elongated steel element of enhanced strength suitable for use as reinforcement for concrete or drawing feed stock has a cross section which is heterogenous in structure and strength, the cross section comprising a core, a peripheral layer and a transition region between the core and the peripheral layer, the transition region consisting essentially of higher strength, harder martensite, the peripheral layer being of lower strength than the transition region and the core being of lower strength than the peripheral layer.

  • Patent number: 4898087
Abstract: A laminarizer or arrangement for producing laminar flow, particularly for ceilings and walls of clean rooms or the link formed of filter modules. The laminarizer is suspended or held spaced from a cover supporting mechanical filters. The laminarizer is composed of rectangular frames with fabric sheets stretched onto the rectangular frames. The side members of the rectangular frames are hollow sections or angle sections of triangular cross-section. The fabric sheets rest against and are aligned by the surfaces of the side members facing the rooms are only as narrow and/or rounded-off alignment contacts for the fabric sheets, while the fastening of the fabric sheets is provided at the outer surfaces of the side members extending perpendicularly to the plane of the frame and/or on the rear surfaces of the side members extending in the plane of the frame.

  • Patent number: 4888818
Abstract: A method for the determination of the setting process in an inorganic aqueous binder system, in that the electrical conductivity is constantly measured in the binder system, in that the variation of the electrical conductivity is differentiated according to time, in that the variation of the first derivative of the conductivity is monitored, and in that the temperature in the binder system is continously measured and the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity is eliminated by means of the measured temperature values.

  • Patent number: 4844255
Abstract: A cooling water pump seal for a combustion engine, in which a main seal rests on a shaft with a sliding fit and is preceded on the cooling water side by a protective seal. The protective seal consists of a filter fleece and is fastened to the housing supporting the main seal.

  • Patent number: 4699001
Abstract: A device for testing the correct functioning of a slip-controlled brake system is connected to the electric signal and control lines of the brake system by means of a multiconductor plug (2) instead of a central electronic controller pertaining to the brake system. The individual testing operations are initiated one after the other from a control panel or manual control unit (1) by means of a test step switch (11). Disposed in immediate proximity to the multiconductor plug (2) or combined with the latter in a single unit is a shell (3) containing electric or electronic switches or circuits (5,6,7) which can be switched over by means of signals triggered from the control unit (1) for carrying out the testing operations.

  • Patent number: 4695063
Abstract: A seal ring has an annular sealing lip of a polymeric material which bears resiliently about a shaft rotatable relative thereto with a sealing strip and hydrodynamically acting backfeed ribs to one side of the sealing strip. An annular projection projects from the other side of the sealing strip with a radial clearance between a cylindrical or conical interior surface of the annular projection and the shaft. The annular projection is united with the sealing strip in a bending-resistant manner. Damming ribs protrude uniformally about the interior surface of the annular projection. Each damming rib has a leading surface which makes an obtuse angle with the interior surface and is parallel to the axis thereof.

  • Patent number: 4645215
Abstract: A radially-sealing ring has a sealing element of a non-elastomeric plastic, preferably of PTFE, planar, annular disk having plane-parallel surfaces held at its outer circumference in a stiffening ring and cold flexed in the axial direction to form a cuff at its inner circumference which engages the shaft with bias. The disk has a thickness of from 0.3 to 0.8 mm and an inside diameter approximately 1.5 to 7 times its thickness less than the diameter of the shaft. The distance between the shaft and the line about stiffening ring where the disk is held is 2 to 7 times as great as the thickness of the disk. The radially-sealing ring is preferably for sealing the crankshaft of a two-cycle engine.

  • Patent number: 4603866
Abstract: The inside of a planar, annular disk having a thickness of from about 0.8 to about 2 mm is cold flexed into a cylindrical, sealing stub about a shaft. For this, the inside diameter of the disk before cold flexing about the shaft is from about 1 to about 6 times the thickness of the disk less than the diameter of the shaft. A stiffening ring is sealingly attached about the outside of the disk with the line of the innermost attachment therebetween being from about 1.1 to about 4 times the thickness of the disk from the surface of the shaft.
