  • Publication number: 20100191281
Abstract: A device for delivering a biocompatible material to a surgical site includes a cannula having proximal and distal portions and at least a first interior lumen disposed therebetween through which the biocompatible material is delivered. The device further includes an initiation member for initiating cross-linking of the biocompatible material while the biocompatible material is within the cannula. The cannula may include a heating element to thermally initiate cross-linking. Alternately, the cannula may include a second lumen for transmitting light from a light source. A movable blocking element controls the amount of light that passes into the first lumen. A method of delivering a curable biocompatible material to a surgical site includes positioning a distal portion of a cannula adjacent the surgical site and introducing the biocompatible material through a first lumen of the cannula. Cross-linking of the biocompatible material is then initiated while the biocompatible material is within the cannula.

  • Publication number: 20080154233
Abstract: A device for delivering a biocompatible material to a surgical site includes an elongate cannula having a proximal portion, a distal portion, and at least one interior lumen disposed between the proximal and distal portions through which the biocompatible material is delivered. The device further includes a confinement member adjacent the distal portion of the cannula having expanded and unexpanded positions. In the expanded position, the confinement member defines an open cavity about the distal portion of the cannula and in fluid communication with the interior lumen to retain the biocompatible material. A method of delivering a curable biocompatible material to a surgical site includes positioning a distal portion of a cannula adjacent the surgical site and actuating a confinement member to define an open cavity about the distal portion. The biocompatible material is introduced into the cavity through the cannula and cross-linking of the curable biocompatible material is initiated.

  • Publication number: 20070226272
Abstract: A method and system for synchronizing a main database of a server and a local database of a handheld device. A user can use an application residing in the handheld device to make transactions in the local database. During a synchronization operation, the handheld device and server are coupled. The system then determines whether the application should be updated and, if so, causes the server to provide an update. The system also causes the handheld device to provide to the server information related to the transactions made by the user to the local database. The system causes the server to perform transactions on the main database based on the transaction information. The system also causes the server to extract data from the main database. The server can then provide at least some of the extracted data to the handheld device to update the local database.

  • Publication number: 20070084587
Abstract: The present invention relates to hybrid wicking materials for use in high performance heat pipes and other fields where a bi-modal distribution of pore sizes offers advantages over a homogeneous monolithic porous structure. In one aspect, the invention provides a wicking material for use in heat pipes. This wick is comprised of sintered metal powder formed on a foam, felt, screen or mesh metal substrate. A fine pore structure is formed by the metal powder while the substrate is comprised of large pores. The large pores are several times, preferably five times to several orders of magnitude larger in size than the small pores. The sintered powder metal and the metal substrate may be made of nickel, copper, molybdenum, niobium, aluminium, iron, cobalt, titanium and alloys based on these metals, and combinations thereof.

  • Publication number: 20050147324
Abstract: An RPC camera model is applied to a set of intermediate object-space coordinates, where the intermediate object-space coordinates are determined by scaling, translating and rotating original object-space coordinates. The resulting image-space coordinates may be seen to more accurately remove residual error or bias that may exist for one or more of the imaging parameters on which the RPC camera model is based. The RPC camera model thus refined may then be used for photogrammetric processing of associated satellite imagery, including block adjustment, 3D feature extraction and orthorectification. Alternatively, a new RPC camera model (i.e., new coefficients) may be determined based on scaling, translating and rotating parameters. The new RPC camera model may then be applied to the original object-space coordinates to determine image-space coordinates.
