  • Publication number: 20200234952
Abstract: A method for forming a semiconductor device having a heterojunction of a first III-nitride ternary alloy layer arranged on a second III-nitride ternary alloy layer is provided. A range of concentrations of III-nitride elements for the first and second III-nitride ternary alloy layers is determined so that the absolute value of the polarization difference at the interface of the heterojunction of the first and second III-nitride ternary alloy layers is less than or equal to 0.007 C/m2 or greater than or equal to 0.04 C/m2. Specific concentrations of III-nitride elements for the first and second III-nitride ternary alloy layers are selected from the determined range of concentrations so that the absolute value of the polarization difference at the interface of the heterojunction of the first and second III-nitride ternary alloy layers is less than or equal to 0.007 C/m2 or greater than or equal to 0.04 C/m2.

  • Publication number: 20190186006
Abstract: A susceptor device for a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) reactor including metal organic CVD (MOCVD) used in the semiconductor industry. The susceptor device particularly is used with induction heating and includes a horizontal plate adapted for holding one or more wafers and a vertical rod around which the induction heating coils are disposed. A screw system and an insulator can further be used. This design helps prevent undesired levitation and allows for the gas injectors of the reactors to be placed closer to the wafer for deposition during high-temperature deposition processes at susceptor surface temperatures of about 1500° C. or higher.

  • Patent number: 9660725
Abstract: Techniques are presented herein to enable identification of light fixtures. A light fixture modulates light emitted by the light fixture with an identifier associated with the light fixture. The identifier may be encoded or encrypted before it is modulated. In one example, the identifier is a Universally Unique Identifier (UUID). A user device is positioned to detect light emitted by the light fixture. The user device demodulates the light to obtain the identifier. The identifier, time and location associated with detection of the identifier are sent to a management entity for use in provisioning the light fixture on a network.

  • Patent number: 9596739
Abstract: A lighting control system is provided which accepts user lightning commands, generates controls in accordance with predetermined operating policies and directs light fixtures to produce brightness, color, or directional pattern of the light emitted by the light fixtures. The lighting control system determines whether the light emitted by the light fixtures complies with government regulations, and building policies, and insures that controls are adjusted such that all regulations regarding lighting safety and working conditions, as well as building policy and energy management targets are adhered to. In addition, a way to reconcile conflicting user requests for lighting settings is provided.

  • Patent number: 9560728
Abstract: Techniques presented herein are directed to lighting management techniques supporting lighting functions of networked light fixtures. In accordance with one example, a light fixture in networked lighting system accepts a lighting request transmitted by a computing device. The light fixture determines whether the lighting request is a control message or a query message and performs one or more operations in response to the lighting request depending on whether the lighting request is a control message or a query message.

  • Patent number: 8569737
Abstract: A III-Nitride semiconductor LED provides broadband light emission, across all or most of the visible light wavelength spectrum, and a method for producing same. The LED includes a polarization field management template that has a three-dimensional patterned surface. The surface may be patterned with an array of hemispherical cavities, which may be formed by growing the template around a temporary template layer of spherical or other crystals. The method involves growing a quantum well layer on the patterned surface. The topographical variations in the patterned surface of the template cause corresponding topographical variations in the quantum well layer. These variations in spatial orientation of portions of the quantum well layer cause the polarization field of the quantum well layer to vary across the surface of the LED, which leads to energy transition shifting that provides “white” light emission across a broad wavelength spectrum.
