    Abstract: An apparatus and method are described using a forward model to correct pulse pileup in spectrally resolved X-ray projection data from photon-counting detectors (PCDs). The forward model represents pulse pileup effects using an integral in which the integrand includes a term that is a function of a count rate, which term is called a spectrum distortion correction function. This correction function can be represented as superposition of basis energy functions and corresponding polynomials of the count rate, which are defined by the polynomial coefficients. To calibrate the forward model, the polynomial coefficients are adjusted to optimize an objective function, which uses calibration data having known projections lengths for the material components of a material decomposition. To determine projection lengths for projection data from a computed tomography scan, the calibrated polynomial coefficients are held constant and the projection lengths are adjusted to optimize an objective function.

The wound dressing is a knitted fabric including of a fluffy layer of gel-forming fibers and a backing layer of non-gel-forming fibers. The gel-forming fibers are knitted onto the backing layer, a middle part of the gel-forming fibers are held in the backing layer, and two ends of the gel-forming fibers project against the backing layer.     Abstract: Various embodiments describe frame selection based on training and using a neural network. In an example, the neural network is a convolutional neural network trained with training pairs. Each training pair includes two training frames from a frame collection. The loss function relies on the estimated quality difference between the two training frames. Further, the definition of the loss function varies based on the actual quality difference between these two frames. In a further example, the neural network is trained by incorporating facial heatmaps generated from the training frames and facial quality scores of faces detected in the training frames. In addition, the training involves using a feature mean that represents an average of the features of the training frames belonging to the same frame collection. Once the neural network is trained, a frame collection is input thereto and a frame is selected based on generated quality scores.

    Abstract: A portable apparatus for analyzing a plant specimen. A housing assembly defines a sensing volume and controls entry of ambient light into the sensing volume when the housing is closed. An image sensor senses light from the at least one light emitter that has been incident on the plant specimen.
