  • Publication number: 20200158044
Abstract: A variety of methods and arrangements for reducing noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) in a skip fire engine control system are described. In one aspect, a firing sequence is used to operate the engine in a dynamic firing level modulation manner. A smoothing torque is determined by adaptive control that is applied to a powertrain by an energy storage/release device. The smoothing torque is arranged to at least partially cancel out variation in torque generated by the firing sequence. Various methods, powertrain controllers, arrangements and computer software related to the above operations are also described.

  • Patent number: 10658381
Abstract: Memory dies on a wafer may include multiple memory blocks including bit lines extending along different directions. A memory die may include a first-type plane including first memory blocks and a second-type plane including second memory blocks. In this case, memory blocks having different bit line directions may be formed within a same memory die. An exposure field may include multiple types of memory dies that are oriented in different orientations. The bit line directions may be oriented differently in the multiple types of memory dies. Each lithographic exposure process may include a first step in which lithographic patterns in first exposure fields are oriented in one direction, and a second step in which lithographic patterns in second exposure fields are oriented in another direction. The different orientations of bit lines and word lines may change local directions of stress to reduce wafer distortion.

  • Publication number: 20190387240
Abstract: An encoder determines a compression ratio for compressive sensing and a quantization level used to quantize a media signal based on a target indicator. The encoder accesses compressive sensing measurements performed using the compression ratio and quantizes the compressive sensing measurements based on the quantization level. A decoder receives a compressed signal generated from the signal acquired by the signal acquisition device using the compression ratio and the quantization level. The decoder also receives information indicating the compression ratio or the quantization level. The decoder decompresses the compressed signal based on the compression ratio and the quantization level.

  • Publication number: 20190323441
Abstract: Methods and arrangements for transitioning an engine between a deceleration cylinder cutoff (DCCO) state and an operational state are described. In one aspect, transitions from DCCO may begin with reactivating cylinders to pump air to reduce the pressure in the intake manifold prior to firing any cylinders. The number of pumping cycles, if any, is based on intake manifold absolute pressure (MAP).

  • Patent number: 10397515
Abstract: An image acquisition device compresses a media signal representative of a scene based on a sensing matrix that is a determined by a sensing matrix template and a set of template parameters. The image acquisition device provides the compressed media signal to a receiver and selectively provides a specification of a subset of the set of template parameters to the receiver. The receiver extracts one or more scene descriptors representative of one or more portions of the scene from the compressed media signal using the sensing matrix template without knowledge of the template parameters that are not included in the subset. The template parameters that are not included in the subset are not received by the receiver.

  • Patent number: 10224175
Abstract: Transmission microscopy imaging systems include a mask and/or other modulator situated to encode image beams, e.g., by deflecting the image beam with respect to the mask and/or sensor. The beam is modulated/masked either before or after transmission through a sample to induce a spatially and/or temporally encoded signal by modifying any of the beam/image components including the phase/coherence, intensity, or position of the beam at the sensor. For example, a mask can be placed/translated through the beam so that several masked beams are received by a sensor during a single sensor integration time. Images associated with multiple mask displacements are then used to reconstruct a video sequence using a compressive sensing method. Another example of masked modulation involves a mechanism for phase-retrieval, whereby the beam is modulated by a set of different masks in the image plane and each masked image is recorded in the diffraction plane.

  • Patent number: 10107211
Abstract: Methods and arrangements are described for controlling transitions between firing fractions during skip fire operation of an engine in order to help smooth the transitions. Generally, firing fractions transitions are implemented gradually, preferably in a manner that relatively closely tracks manifold filling dynamics. In some embodiments, the commanded firing fraction is altered each firing opportunity. Another approach contemplates altering the commanded firing fraction by substantially the same amount each firing opportunity for at least a portion of the transition. These approaches work particularly well when the commanded firing fraction is provided to a skip fire controller that includes an accumulator functionality that tracks the portion of a firing that has been requested, but not delivered, or vice versa.
