  • Patent number: 9367557
Abstract: Techniques for improving data compression of a storage system are described herein. According to one embodiment, a first sequence of data is partitioned into a plurality of data chunks in a first sequence order according to a predetermined chunking algorithm. The similarity of the data chunks is determined based on data patterns of the data chunks. The data chunks are reorganized into a second sequence order based on the similarity of the data chunks, the second sequence order being different from the first sequence order. The reorganized data chunks are compressed in the second sequence order into a second sequence of data, such that similar data chunks are stored and compressed together within the second sequence of data.

  • Patent number: 9290237
Abstract: A hydrofoil includes a body, an even number of wings disposed at the opposite sides of the body and an even number of floats disposed at both sides of a bottom of the body. Each float is a hollow and flat structure. At a rear edge of the float portion is provided a float propeller. With the design of the float structure, the counterforce caused by the water waves impacting on the floats can be reduced, so that the float can move more stably to improve safety and comfortableness.

  • Patent number: 9189408
Abstract: A system and method of offline annotation of future access are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a request is received at a storage system to read a portion of a file stored in the storage system. In response to the request, chunks of the file are cached in a cache memory of the storage system. In response to a request for cache space reclamation, the system then determines future request to the file based in part on a next access auxiliary table (NAAT) associated with the file, which was created prior to receiving the request to read and stored in a persistent storage location of the storage system. Based on the determination, the system evicts from the cache memory at least one chunk of a read unit (RU) whose next access is a furthest among the cached chunks.

  • Patent number: 8751411
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method and system for determining a billing structure for outputting documents using an image processing apparatus. If image data of the document includes color pixels, a billing structure is determined based on an estimated total color pixel count. The color pixels of the image data are counted in a device independent space and the total color pixel count of the image data to be output in a device dependent space is estimated. Based on the estimation, a billing structure is chosen. Processing and determining a billing structure based on image data in the device independent space avoids charging a customer for color print job when only a small amount of color pixels are printed. It also encourages determining charges independently of the marking engine or output device.
