The processing system may generate a first modified data set simulating a first cell being placed in an inactive state, by distributing utilization metrics of the first cell over at least one additional cell, and may apply the first modified data set to the throughput prediction model to obtain a second predicted throughput. The processing system may then determine that the second predicted throughput meets a threshold throughput that is based on the first predicted throughput, and transmit at least one instruction to place the first cell in the inactive state for the designated future time period in response to the determining.

In some implementations, the device may include one or more computer-vision systems. A computer-vision system, in accordance with the present technology, may use at least two two-dimensional images to generate three-dimensional (3D) information about the bin and items in the bin. Based on the 3D information, a strategy for picking up items from the bin is determined. When no strategies with high probability of success exist, the robotic device may perturb the contents of the bin to create new available pick-up points and re-attempt to pick up an item.

The airfoil includes a material that has an initial composition. A cooling hole is machined in the airfoil to contact the cooling channels such that a fluid travelling in the cooling channel may be discharged via the cooling hole. The machining of the cooling hole results in a formation of a depleted region around the cooling hole. The depleted region is depleted of a portion of the initial composition of the airfoil. A top coat is disposed on the bond coat. The airfoil is subjected to a heat treatment at a temperature effective to promote diffusion of elements from a non-depleted region to the depleted region around the cooling hole.

    Abstract: A multi-focus histotripsy method based on a pulsed ultrasound phased array with hundred elements is provided. Excitation amplitude and phase of individual elements are regulated to control a phased array to produce multiple focus modes. A two-stage histotripsy is performed based on these focus modes. In a first stage, a first pulsed ultrasound is applied to an experimental sample in a target area to induce generation of cavitation microbubbles and boiling bubbles to preliminarily homogenize the experimental sample to form a loose product; and in a second stage, the experimental sample is mechanically disrupted and homogenized using a second pulsed ultrasound. The first pulsed ultrasound and the second pulsed ultrasound each are a hundred micro-second pulse or a milli-second pulse. Duty cycles of the first pulsed ultrasound and the second pulsed ultrasound are 3-10% and less than 2%, respectively. A multi-focus histotripsy system is further provided.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for in-situ detection of the state of charge (SOC) of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries using ultrasonic guided waves. The invention involves attaching two circular piezoelectric patches symmetrically at a fixed distance from each other on the surface of the lithium-ion battery using a coupling agent. A function generator is controlled to produce a Hanning-window-modulated five-cycle sine signal to excite the circular piezoelectric patch located on the left side of the battery, generating ultrasonic guided waves within the battery. These waves are then received by the circular piezoelectric patch located on the right side of the battery. The received guided wave signal is processed to extract the time-domain characteristic parameters of the wave (transit time). Based on the correspondence between the guided wave characteristic parameters (transit time) and the state of charge, the method enables the detection of the SOC of the pouch-type lithium-ion battery.
