    Abstract: Surgical marker systems and methods for delineating a lesion margin of a subject are provided. An example system includes a handheld probe device configured to capture an optical coherence tomography (OCT) image and a processor coupled to a memory. The handheld probe device includes a handheld probe including a fiber-optic probe assembly and a marker assembly. The processor is configured to: segment, by a neural network, each pixels of the OCT into different tissue-type categories; generate one or more feature vectors based at least in part on the segmented pixels; determine, by a one-class classifier, a boundary location in the OCT image between a normal tissue and an abnormal tissue of the tissue structure; and control the marker assembly to selectively create a visible label on a tissue location of the subject, the tissue location corresponding to the boundary location.

    Abstract: Efflorescence resistance of concrete blocks is enhanced through the use of glass powder in the concrete composition. The glass powder permits a reduction in the cement content; the glass powder also creates a pozzolanic reaction to change the free calcium ions in calcium hydroxide to calcium silicate to fix the calcium ions inside concrete. The composition includes cementitious binding material of ordinary Portland cement, fly ash, calcium sulfoaluminate cement, ground-granulated blast-furnace slag in an amount from 20 to 25 wt. %. Coarse aggregate is provided from 10 to 15 wt. percent. Fine aggregate is from 32 to 39 wt. %. The composition further includes glass powder having a diameter of less than approximately 75 microns in an amount from 17 to 23 wt. %. Water is present in an amount from 6 to 9 wt. %. The dry density of formed paving blocks is 1800-2200 kg/m3.

    Abstract: A method for obtaining a Computer Tomography (CT) image of an object reduces heel effect artefacts and includes generating x-rays using an x-ray source comprising an angled anode, recording at least one set of 2D projections of the object or a part thereof, and generating at least one 3D CT image of the object. Each 3D CT image is corrected, wherein scaling factors for slices of voxels are determined with at least one 3D CT calibration image that pictures similar or identical object structures of a calibration object placed within the x-ray beam path with respect to a y-direction. A contribution to grey values of voxels belonging to said object structures attributable to the slice position in the y direction is determined at least approximately, and the scaling factor for a respective slice of voxels is chosen such that it compensates for the determined grey value contribution for that slice.
