  • Publication number: 20090143095
Abstract: This invention relates to a device, a method, a computer program and a computer program product for a device capable of communicating in a first mode of wireless communication and a second mode of wireless communication simultaneously, wherein it is determined for each of at least one channel of a plurality of channels whether interference occurs between the first mode and the second mode; and wherein the channels which have been determined not to cause interference are stored in a list of preferable channels. For instance, in the case where the first mode represents a cellular communications mode, during a cell selection/reselection procedure of the first mode, instead of searching in the cell information stored for the PLMN, it will first search in the list of preferable channels when the second mode is active.

Abstract: A system and method having a multimode wireless communication terminal with at least two SIM card slots for use with at least two phone numbers simultaneously online (dual standby). The system includes a main controller, a primary mode module, a secondary mode module, and an inter-system measurement module. The main controller operates the multimode wireless communication terminal in single standby or dual standby state. The primary mode module enables the primary mode of operation for the multimode wireless communication terminal. The primary mode of operation is a default mode of operation. The secondary mode module enables the secondary mode of operation for the multimode wireless communication terminal. Paging information for the primary mode of operation and the secondary mode of operation are monitored at their respective monitoring rates using a TDM method. • Patent number: 7283832
Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless network system for establishing peer-to-peer communication between mobile terminals. Upon determining that peer-to-peer communication can be established between two mobile terminal, the wireless network system transmits to each of the mobile terminals information about radio resources used by the other one of the mobile terminals. Each mobile terminal then uses the radio resources information to test the characteristics of a dedicated uplink channel between the other one of the mobile terminals and the network system. Thus, no separate radio channel needs to be allocated for the channel testing. Furthermore, each mobile terminal uses the same radio resources to establish a dedicated radio channel in the peer-to-peer communication with the other one of the mobile terminals, which were previously used by itself for communication with the network system on the dedicated uplink channel.

  • Publication number: 20060227749
Abstract: The present invention provides a CDMA based communication system with improved channel estimation capability with respect to multiple pilots transmitted via channels dedicated to the system. In one embodiment of the invention, a CDMA based communication system compares the received multiple pilots to one another and selects a pilot with the largest power level. The channel estimation is performed based on the pilot with the largest power level to derive the associated channel parameters. The information intended for the system is then demodulated, based on the associated channel parameters, to retrieve user data In another embodiment of the invention, a CDMA based communication system first performs channel estimation on each of the dedicated channels, via each of which a pilot is received by the system, to derive channel parameters associated with each channel. Then all the channel parameters are combined to derive final channel parameters.

  • Publication number: 20060153105
Abstract: The present invention provides a wireless communication network system that maintains uplink control for the mobile terminal in peer-to-peer communication. According to one embodiment of the invention, after determining a reliable direct communication link can be set up between the mobile terminals, the network system transmits information including control commands to the mobile terminals for establishing direct communication. The information includes a burst structure type, with the burst structure containing at least one section for carrying control information intended for the network system. After the direct communication is established, the network system continuously listens to signals communicated between the mobile terminals to receive bursts. The network system demodulates received bursts that are communicated between the two mobile terminals to determine whether a received burst contains control information intended for the network system.
