The technical solution provided by the present invention controls the MG to report the timestamp of an event; enables the MGC or other applications that require the timestamp of the event to determine the actual time when the event appears according to the obtained timestamp; and controls the reported event not to include the timestamp if the MGC or other applications do not need the timestamp of the event, thus saving the bandwidth resources and other system resources.

    Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for adjusting the value of the statistic parameter so as to enable an MGC dynamically adjust the statistic parameter under H.248 framework. The method extends the H.248 protocol. The MGC sends adjustment information to the MG. The MG adjusts the value of the specified statistic parameter in a specified adjustment manner according to the adjustment information. The adjustment manner may be direct value assignment or one adjustment operation executed by the MG combining with a local preset parameter. If the adjustment information can not be recognized or supported by the MG, or the adjustment information is not suitable for the statistic parameter, the MG returns corresponding error information to the MGC. The adjustment to the statistic parameter value by the MGC may be issued to the MG for execution at the same time with other operations such as audit.

As an apparatus for filtering packets, a media gateway (MG) uses the packet filtering information sent by the media gateway controller (MGC) to filter packets for the media stream when transferring the media stream. The method, system, and apparatus enable packet filtering for the media streams in an IPv6-based PS network. Moreover, the filtering conditions in the packet filtering information in the present disclosure is triplet information that uniquely identifies the basic characteristics of a media stream and can be obtained from the IPv6 packet header, thus reducing the complexity of the packet filtering process.

The present invention extends the property parameters of the H.248 protocol or MGCP protocol and adds a property parameter that indicates the dynamic packet filtering function is enabled or disabled and a property parameter that indicates the service type so that the MGC can enable or disable the packet filtering function for the instance of the specified service type flexibly according to the values of such parameters.

Through the embodiments of the present invention, the MGC can instruct the MG to adjust the rate without knowing the conventional rate of the signal, and the MG may also calculate the target rate directly based on the current rate instead of the conventional rate.
