    Abstract: The present invention discloses a method for implementing media gateway controller status monitoring of media gateway. The method monitors the silent time of the media gateway controller message by providing an Inactivity Timer or a general timer and a message receiving flag on the media gateway independently, and sends a Notify message to the media gateway controller so as to trigger the media gateway controller to return a message indicating it is in normal status. After registering with the media gateway controller, the media gateway starts the Inactivity Timer or the general timer according to the returned Registration Successful message, to start to monitor the status of the media gateway controller.

Therefore, the MGC is enabled to acquire from the MG the media stream information, and synchronization between media contents is realized.

If the MG determines and controls the implementation of the internal connection itself, the MG informs the MGC to modify the call mode in the MGC into the same as in the MG, or maps between the respective operations for the MGC and the MG to their respective call models after the MG implements the internal connection. The MGC sets an inspect duration during which the MGC periodically acquires the QoS information of the media stream, thereby timely acquiring the QoS information of the media stream and effectively controlling the media stream. The MG actively submits the QoS information to the MGC and the MG submits the QoS information to the MGC according to the periodic request of the MGC. The embodiment of the present invention provides the capability of adjusting the call microscopic QoS, enhances the real-time quality of evaluating the QoS and that of dynamically adjusting call control strategy, inherits the ability of the original protocol for evaluating the microscopic QoS of the network during a certain period and provides more accurate evaluation.
