  • Publication number: 20060098944
Abstract: This invention has as its object to provide colorful menus, and improve interactiveness in content playback from an information storage medium. In an information storage medium including a management area and object areas, the object area stores an expanded video object (in HDVTS) which undergoes playback management by a logical unit called a program chain, and/or an advanced object (in AHDVTS) which undergoes playback control using a markup language. Management information (HDVMGI) in the management area includes information indicating one or both of the expanded video object and the advanced object as the object stored in the object area.

  • Patent number: 6813654
Abstract: Two transfer modes of a band-guaranteed cycle and an event-driven type asynchronous cycle are defined for a multimedia bus. In the band-guaranteed cycle, stream data is transferred between nodes, to which the same channel number is assigned, in peer-to-peer mode using a reserved band for each cycle time. If the same channel number is assigned to a plurality of receiver nodes, a multi-cast transfer can be achieved by the band-guaranteed cycle. The multi-cast transfer using the band-guaranteed cycle can be stopped even in response to an instruction from any receiver node, and a buffer of each receiver node can be prevented from overflowing.

  • Patent number: 6782476
Abstract: A CPU module, satellite or digital TV tuner, MPEG2 decoder, and DVD-RAM drives have authenticators for making device authentication, key exchange, and the like. These authenticators hold authentication data (authentication formats) of the corresponding function modules. By exchanging the authentication formats between devices which are to authenticate each other, authentication can be done in units of function modules.

  • Patent number: 6778537
Abstract: This invention enables the digital broadcast receiving section to restore the reception timing even in a system incapable of guaranteeing the real-time feature of digital broadcast data as far as the 1394 Link. The digital broadcast signal received by the RF section and tuner section is restored to ATM cells at the packeting section. The ATM cells are then sent to the time stamp adding section, which adds the arrival time to the ATM cells. The CPU extracts, as a time stamp, the arrival time of the first ATM cell in each transport packet and creates a 4-byte source packet header on the basis of the value of the arrival time and the value of the CTR in the 1394 Link.

  • Publication number: 20040158748
Abstract: A power control driver of a BIOS has a function of changing a frequency of clock supplied to a CPU. According to the function of the power control driver, it is possible to set a normal mode for showing the CPU capability to the maximum and a power saving mode for preferentially taking power saving rather than the CPU capability. A power control utility program carries out the following power saving control. The program shifts a system to the normal mode when an AV application program operating an encoder and a decoder required for showing the CPU capability to the maximum is operating. In addition, the program shifts the system to the power saving mode when the program is not operating even if application programs other than the program are operating.

  • Patent number: 6728810
Abstract: A multimedia bus is an internal bus for which two transfer modes, a band-guaranteed cycle and an event-driven type asynchronous (async) cycle, are defined. In the band-guaranteed cycle, stream data is transferred between nodes in peer-to-peer mode by using a reserved band for each cycle time. There are three ways to control the band-guaranteed cycle using the reserved band cycle: (1) flow control for stopping data transmission in a reserved band cycle under the control of a receiver node, (2) control for executing a stream access in the async cycle and (3) control for accepting the async cycle even during the reserved band cycle. This can permit data transfer between nodes on the internal bus in peer-to-peer mode, thereby improving the performance of a system which deals with both an AV stream and computer data.

  • Publication number: 20040060066
Abstract: An AV function section is provided with a standby mode serving to reduce power consumption during standby. An embedded controller provides such control as shifts or recovers the AV function section to or from the standby mode. Further, a network processor accepts, via a network such as a wireless LAN, a command causing the AV function section to shift to or recover from the standby mode. On the basis of this command, the network processor instructs, via a control signal line, the embedded controller to shift or recover the AV function section to or from the standby mode.

  • Patent number: 6694440
Abstract: A personal computer is connected to a 1394/LAN bridge adapter via a 1394 bus and is connected to a LAN via the 1394 bus and the 1394/LAN bridge adapter. When receiving a remote activation packet from the LAN, the 1394/LAN bridge adapter converts the received packet into a Link-on packet and transmits this Link-on packet to the computer via the 1394 bus. The computer uses the reception of the Link-on packet from the 1394 bus as a cause of generating a wake up event and thereby returns to an operation state when receiving the Link-on packet. Thus, the computer can be remotely activated from the LAN when the computer is connected to the LAN via a serial bus.
