  • Patent number: 6314188
Abstract: Of I, P, and B pictures contained in an MPEG 2 data stream, only the I picture is subjected to encryption such as scramble processing. Scramble rule data used at that time is stored in the lead-in area of an optical disk. A software DVD decoder reads the scramble rule data stored in the lead-in area, and its certification control module descrambles only the I picture. With this processing, the CPU power required for descramble processing can be reduced, and motion picture data can be decoded by the software DVD decoder in real time.

  • Patent number: 6297797
Abstract: When a digitally compressed and encoded video data stream contains line data, a line data detection circuit in a DVD decoder detects the presence of that line data, and informs a CPU of it using an interrupt signal. When the CPU receives the line data from a data register in the DVD decoder, it converts it into character information and writes the information in an image memory, or converts the line data into an on-screen display command for controlling the OSD function of the DVD decoder and issues that command.

  • Publication number: 20010021255
Abstract: A content processing system for use in an electronic apparatus includes a unit for acquiring first revocation list information corresponding to a first media type, and a unit for recording the first revocation list information on a recording medium of a second media type. The recorded first revocation list information is used in authentication between the electronic apparatus and the recording medium of the second media type.

  • Patent number: 6278807
Abstract: In a data recording and reproducing apparatus which records and reproduces a record medium in which at least two kinds of data having different data types can be recorded, data are read out from the record medium, and a digital watermark is detected from the data read out. The kind of data is determined depending upon whether the digital watermark is detected, and it is determined whether retry processing at the time of reading-out the data and verifying processing at the time of writing should be executed. The retry processing or the verifying processing are executed only for the data which is determined that the retry processing or the verifying processing should be executed. Therefore, in the case of data whose reading-out continuity is more important than reliability, the retry processing is omitted, so that time required for reading-out processing can be shortened.

  • Patent number: 6240469
Abstract: A master transaction control unit capable of starting an I/O read transaction is arranged in a DVD decoder, and a DVD control driver controls both the DVD decoder and a DVD interface. With this arrangement, motion picture data can be directly transferred from the DVD interface to the DVD decoder without the mediacy of a main memory. Therefore, the same data can be prevented from being output onto a PCI bus several times, and the bus traffic can be reduced. Because of a transfer scheme without the mediacy of the main memory, illegal copying can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6111964
Abstract: A microphone device includes a base adapted to be installed in a given position, an arm mounted on the base for angular movement in a predetermined angular range with respect thereto, and a sound pickup unit mounted on a distal end of the arm for picking up sounds when the arm is angularly positioned at a predetermined angle with respect to the arm. The base may be installed on a pillar positioned obliquely in front of the driver's seat of a motor vehicle, so that the microphone can be held in a good position with respect to the driver. The microphone is positioned in superposed relation or in the vicinity of the pillar that is present in the front vision of the driver on the driver's seat, and hence does not essentially interfere with the front vision of the driver.

  • Patent number: 5859828
Abstract: An electronic device using a recording medium such as an optical disk provided under a seat includes a device body, a guide surface portion and a lid. The device body includes an insertion mouth for inserting a recording medium. The guide surface portion is provided along a lower end edge of the insertion mouth defined at the front surface side of the device body. The lid is moved between a position for closing the insertion mouth of the device body and a position for opening the insertion mouth. The lid includes on its upper end side provided an auxiliary guide portion forming substantially the same plane as the guide surface portion when the lid is moved to the opening position.
