  • Publication number: 20050200870
Abstract: Upon designating bookbinding print, preview images are displayed in a layout after bookbinding. When “store” of intermediate data is designated in a print process, a spooler (302) stores intermediate data and an output job setup file in a spool file (303). When the stored job is selected, a previewer (306) displays a list of jobs, and displays a print preview image. In this case, upon setting bookbinding print, pages are displayed in a spread state and order after bookbinding. Also, the open direction (right or left open), and the bookbinding unit are also expressed on preview images.

  • Publication number: 20050200879
Abstract: Editing a printing job of printing data temporarily stored in an intermediate-code format is restricted such that an error does not occur in the result of printing. A user interface for editing the printing-setting information of the data temporarily stored in the intermediate-code format is controlled such that a change of printing settings which can be edited is restricted and the printing settings are displayed.

  • Publication number: 20050168777
Abstract: Data processing apparatus for controlling operation of a peripheral device, e.g., a printer. The data processing apparatus is adaptable to different operation environments of a peripheral device, e.g., geographic difference. Control means of the peripheral device stores a local ID indicative of environment data e.g., a country where the device is used. The local ID is acquired, and then a resource file corresponding to the local ID is acquired. The resource file stores control data of the peripheral device, which changes in correspondence with environment data. Based on the control data, setting of the peripheral device is performed. The local ID is stored so that the local ID can be used in the subsequent processing.

  • Patent number: 6922260
Abstract: There is provided, even in case plural sheet sizes or plural sheet orientations are mixed within a document, a system capable of obtaining an output result close to that of a document not containing such mixed sheet sizes or sheet orientations without causing sheet discharge in the course of printing operation or data overflow from the print area, also providing an enlarging/reducing function to a device lacking such function, and providing a visually agreeable output result, all realized without modification in the conventional printer driver. A host computer is provided with a spool file manager for calculating the relative position of the logic page to the physical page, and a despooler for processing the layout data, obtained by enlarging or reducing the logic page, to a data format matching the graphic engine.

  • Publication number: 20050146732
Abstract: This invention relates to a printing control method and apparatus, a computer program product, and the like in which printing data is held in a hierarchical structure and a printing job is issued to a printer to cause the printer to print. In the printing control method according to the present invention, different setting values can be set in the lower and upper layers of the hierarchical structure as printing setting data containing double-sided printing or single-sided printing setting. When a setting value different from that of the upper layer is set in the lower layer of the hierarchical structure, the printer is instructed on a setting in the lower layer for each printing data to which the setting value is applied.

  • Publication number: 20050052662
Abstract: When an original image is to be printed as a poster composed of an array of 4×4 output images, an image is generated by enlarging the original image fourfold in the vertical and horizontal directions and dividing the enlarged image into 16 parts. These 16 partial images are output successively starting from the upper left or lower right of the 4×4 array, depending upon the designation. If there is a blank page, the blank page is output as is even if the printer possesses a blank-paper economizing function. Thus, when a poster printing function is used, the user designates the manner in which the enlarged image is divided up and the order in which the divided images are printed. Even if the printer is equipped with the blank-paper economizing function, normal printed results can be obtained merely by joining the output sheets together in the order that conforms to the manner in which the enlarged image was divided.

  • Publication number: 20040163049
Abstract: The object of the present invention is to create a template for print settings used for printing a document based on an existing document. To achieve the object, the present invention is capable of registering the print settings for a document being currently edited as template information and reading the registered template information as print settings for the document being currently edited or a new document. Thus, in the present invention, the print settings for an existing document can be utilized as print settings for printing a document. More preferably, the contents of a registered template can be edited. More preferably, a document in the present invention has a tree structure with pages as leaves; print settings can be made for each subtree; and, when a template is registered, the print settings made for the entire tree structure are registered as the template.

  • Publication number: 20040125407
Abstract: This invention has as its object to allow a print system having a middle insert print function to insert an index sheet without billing for it. According to a preferred embodiment, when it is set to insert an index sheet, a print application (305) executes a non-billing command transmission preparation process (step S603). Upon completion of the preparation process, the print application transmits a non-billing command to a printer (step S604). The print application then executes an index sheet output process (step S606). The printer excludes the index sheet from sheets to be billed in accordance with the received non-billing command.
