Patent number: 10119955Abstract: A solid state molecular sensor having an aperture extending through a thickness of a sensing material is configured with a continuous electrically-conducting path extending in the sensing material around the aperture. A supply reservoir is connected to provide a molecular species, having a molecular length, from the supply reservoir to an input port of the aperture. A collection reservoir is connected to collect the molecular species from an output port of the aperture after translocation of the molecular species from the supply reservoir through the sensing aperture. The sensing aperture has a length between the input and output ports, in the sensing material, that is substantially no greater than the molecular length of the molecular species from the supply reservoir. An electrical connection to the sensing material measures a change in an electrical characteristic of the sensing material during the molecular species translocation through the aperture.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2014Date of Patent: November 6, 2018Assignee: President and Fellows of Harvard CollegeInventors: Charles M. Publication number: 20180164651Abstract: A power-off protection circuit and a power-off protection method of an electrochromic device are revealed. A compelling bleached unit is connected to two electrodes of an electrochromic element in parallel. When a power provided to the electrochromic element is turned off, the compelling bleached unit forces the electrochromic element to be bleached by creating a short circuit in the electrochromic element. Thus quality of the electrochromic element will not be affected by the condition that the electrochromic element remains colored and unable to be bleached when the electrochromic element is still in the colored state and the power is suddenly cut-off.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 9, 2016Publication date: June 14, 2018Inventors: JEN-YING FANG, CHIA-HSIU YANG, YI-WEN CHUNG

Publication number: 20180112129Abstract: A quantum dot luminophore comprising at least one luminescent core, a spacer layer, an encapsulation layer, and a plurality of quantum dots is disclosed. The luminescent core is designed to emit a red light after being excited by an incident blue light, and the quantum dots are configured to irradiate a green light by the illumination of the blue light and/or the red light. In the present invention, the quantum dots are particularly used to cover or surround the luminescent core for solving the light re-absorption. By such arrangement, even though part of incident blue light (about 10-30%) may be reflected by the luminescent core made of phosphor materials, the reflected blue light still can also be recycled by the quantum dots surrounding the luminescent core, such that the light conversion efficiency and emission intensity of the luminescent core are hence increased because the loss of blue light is decreased.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 27, 2017Publication date: April 26, 2018Inventors: YING-FANG CHEN, HSUEH-SHIH CHEN

Patent number: 9623103Abstract: The invention provides the discovery and characterization of a novel arterivirus protein (nsp2TF), whose expression is dependent on ?2 ribosomal frameshifting at a site located in the nsp2 coding region. The coding region for the unique TF domain of nsp2TF overlaps the part of ORF1a that encodes the transmembrane region of nsp2 in arteriviruses, including PRRSV, LDV and SHFV. Mutations affecting the expression of nsp2TF impair PRRSV replication and result in a smaller plaque phenotype. Provided herein are arteriviruses that display reduced translation of nsp2TF and/or altered translation of one or more downstream products, arteriviruses in which nsp2TF function is reduced and/or absent, and vaccines comprising said arteriviruses. Also provided herein are diagnostic methods, methods for identifying compounds that inhibit ?2 frameshifting, and gene expression tools for eukaryotic systems utilizing ?2 frameshifting.Type: GrantFiled: July 18, 2013Date of Patent: April 18, 2017Assignees: South Dakota Board of Regents, Cambridge Enterprise Limited, Academisch Ziekenhuis Leiden, University College CorkInventors: Ying Fang, Eric John Snijder, Andrew E. Patent number: 9547386Abstract: A touch projection system includes a light source device, a micromirror device, and an image-capturing device. The micromirror device can provide three reflection directions. The micromirror device can selectively reflect projection light emitted by the light source device in one of the reflection directions to project the reflected projection light onto a screen to form an image. The micromirror device also can reflect image light from the screen in another one of the reflection directions. Further, the micromirror device can reflect the image light from the screen in the other one of the reflection directions, which has a larger deflection angle, to be received by the image-capturing device, for example for determining a touch operation performed on the screen. Thereby, the limitation of structural interference by other components to the image-capturing device is reduced, so that the touch projection system can be assembled in a compact configuration.Type: GrantFiled: December 23, 2014Date of Patent: January 17, 2017Assignee: Qisda CorporationInventors: Chi-Hung Hsiao, Ying-Fang Lin
