    Abstract: A method for measuring free radical comprises providing a sensor including a substrate and a conductive polymer layer, wherein the conductive polymer layer is configured on the substrate and made of conductive polymer; applying a liquid sample with free radical to the sensor so that the conductive polymer layer is covered with the liquid sample and the conductivity of the conductive polymer layer is lowered due to oxidation of the conductive polymer by free radical; and calculating the concentration of the free radical in the liquid sample based on the conductivity change rate of the conductive polymer before and after the liquid sample is applied to the conductive polymer. The present invention has advantages including low cost, small size, and ease of operation, which make it a good candidate for detecting hydroxyl radicals for oxidative stress studies.

The mount has an anti-dust structure includes a curved surface that is opposite to a rotary surface of the rotary part and extends in a rotation direction of the rotary part. The curved surface and the optical sensor are arranged sequentially in the rotation direction. Either by shortening a distance between the curved surface and the rotary surface or by a guiding slot that is disposed beside or lower than the curved surface, dust deposited on the optical sensor can be reduced effectively.

    Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanotechnology and sub-microelectronic circuitry, as well as associated methods and devices, for example, nanoscale wire devices and methods for use in determining nucleic acids or other analytes suspected to be present in a sample (for example, their presence and/or dynamical information), e.g., at the single molecule level. For example, a nanoscale wire device can be used in some cases to detect single base mismatches within a nucleic acid (e.g., by determining association and/or dissociation rates). In one aspect, dynamical information such as a binding constant, an association rate, and/or a dissociation rate, can be determined between a nucleic acid or other analyte, and a binding partner immobilized relative to a nanoscale wire. In some cases, the nanoscale wire includes a first portion comprising a metal-semiconductor compound, and a second portion that does not include a metal-semiconductor compound.

    Abstract: A viscosity measurement system, which is for measuring the viscosity of a fluid, comprises a transistor-type viscosity sensor, an electrical measurement unit, and a processing unit. The transistor-type viscosity sensor includes a semiconductor structure, a source terminal, and a drain terminal. The semiconductor structure includes a GaN layer and an AlGaN layer disposed on the GaN layer. The portion of the semiconductor structure that is between the source terminal and the drain terminal has a gate region, which has an exposed surface for being in contact with the fluid. The electrical measurement unit is in electrical connection with the source terminal and the drain terminal and for measuring an electronic signal of the semiconductor structure. The processing unit is coupled to the electrical measurement unit and for determining the viscosity of the fluid according to the electronic signal measured.

    Abstract: The present invention generally relates to nanoscale wire devices and methods for use in determining nucleic acids or other analytes suspected to be present in a sample. For example, a nanoscale wire device can be used to detect single base mismatches within a nucleic acid (e.g., by determining association and/or dissociation rates). In one aspect, dynamical information such as a binding constant, an association rate, and/or a dissociation rate, can be determined between an analyte and a binding partner immobilized relative to a nanoscale wire. In some cases, the nanoscale wire includes a first portion comprising a metal-semiconductor compound, and a second portion that does not include a metal-semiconductor compound. The binding partner, in some embodiments, is immobilized relative to at least the second portion of the nanoscale wire, and the size of the second portion of the nanoscale wire may be minimized and/or controlled in some instances.

Further, experiments performed in support of the present invention demonstrated improved tolerability of liposomal compositions comprising peptide epoxyketone compounds.

    Abstract: The invention provides the discovery and characterization of a novel arterivirus protein (nsp2TF), whose expression is dependent on ?2 ribosomal frameshifting at a site located in the nsp2 coding region. The coding region for the unique TF domain of nsp2TF overlaps the part of ORF1a that encodes the transmembrane region of nsp2 in arteriviruses, including PRRSV, LDV and SHFV. Mutations affecting the expression of nsp2TF impair PRRSV replication and result in a smaller plaque phenotype. Provided herein are arteriviruses that display reduced translation of nsp2TF and/or altered translation of one or more downstream products, arteriviruses in which nsp2TF function is reduced and/or absent, and vaccines comprising said arteriviruses. Also provided herein are diagnostic methods, methods for identifying compounds that inhibit ?2 frameshifting, and gene expression tools for eukaryotic systems utilizing ?2 frameshifting.

    Abstract: A touch projection system includes a light source device, a micromirror device, and an image-capturing device. The micromirror device can provide three reflection directions. The micromirror device can selectively reflect projection light emitted by the light source device in one of the reflection directions to project the reflected projection light onto a screen to form an image. The micromirror device also can reflect image light from the screen in another one of the reflection directions. Further, the micromirror device can reflect the image light from the screen in the other one of the reflection directions, which has a larger deflection angle, to be received by the image-capturing device, for example for determining a touch operation performed on the screen. Thereby, the limitation of structural interference by other components to the image-capturing device is reduced, so that the touch projection system can be assembled in a compact configuration.

    Abstract: A touch projection system includes a screen, an image-capturing device, a micromirror device, and a TIR prism disposed in front of the micromirror device. The TIR prism includes an optical path compensation structure or a hollowed channel, so that an image light from the screen, traveling through the TIR prism to be reflected by the micromirror device, can travel through the optical path compensation structure or the hollowed channel to avoid a probable optical path difference on the image light due to traveling through the TIR prism. Thereby, the invention can solve that a distortion may be induced in a touch image formed by the image-capturing device receiving the image light reflected by the micromirror device.
