    Abstract: A fabrication method and a product for the deposition of a conductive barrier or other liner layer in a vertical electrical interconnect structure. One embodiment includes within a a hole through a dielectric layer a barrier layer of RuTaN, an adhesion layer of RuTa, and a copper seed layer forming a liner for electroplating of copper. The ruthenium content is preferably greater than 50 at % and more preferably at least 80 at % but less than 95 at %. The barrier and adhesion layers may both be sputter deposited. Other platinum-group elements substitute for the ruthenium and other refractory metals substitute for the tantalum. Aluminum alloying into RuTa when annealed presents a moisture barrier. Copper contacts include different alloying fractions of RuTa to shift the work function to the doping type.

    Abstract: A multiple-drive recording and reproduction apparatus of the invention includes a system controller which, upon duplication of information recorded on a hard disc onto an optical disc, on the hard disc device side, compresses and tentatively reproduces, at a bit rate changed, predetermined time's worth of video data from the beginning of a video and displays the video on a display part, and, if the user views and approves rough image quality of the video tentatively reproduced and displayed, compresses the video data targeted for duplication and then starts the duplication. According to this configuration, when the recording bit rate is changed upon the duplication of the information from the hard disc to the optical disc, the video at this point can be confirmed.

    Abstract: A fabrication method, a product structure, a fabrication method, and a sputtering target for the deposition of a conductive barrier or other liner layer in an interconnect structure. The barrier layer comprises a conductive metal of a refractory noble metal alloy, such as a ruthenium/tantalum alloy, which may be amorphous though it is not required to be so. The barrier layer may be sputtered from a target of similar composition. The barrier and target composition may be chosen from a combination of the refractory metals and the platinum-group metals as well as RuTa. A copper noble seed layer may be formed of an alloy of copper and ruthenium in contact to a barrier layer over the dielectric.

    Abstract: According to one embodiment, a case of a magnetic disk device has a sheet-shaped base with an open upper surface formed of a soft magnetic material, and a sheet-shaped top cover with an open upper surface formed of a soft magnetic material and attached to the base. A disk-shaped recording medium arranged in the case comprises a substrate, a soft magnetic backing layer formed on the substrate, and a magnetic recording layer formed by being overlapped on the soft magnetic backing layer and having perpendicular magnetic anisotropy. The base is formed in a thickness of 0.5 mm or more and the top cover is formed in a thickness of 0.25 mm or more, respectively. The base and the top cover have a relative permeability of 700 or more and a saturation flux density of 1.4 (T) or more.

The respective alignment surfaces are shaped and positioned so that the darkspace shield is physically moved to a desired aligned position as the alignment surfaces engage each other. In this manner a darkspace shield may be directly aligned to a target within a semiconductor fabrication chamber to provide a suitable darkspace gap between the target and the darkspace shield.

    Abstract: There is disclosed a disk drive having a magnetic device for applying a direct current magnetic field to the disk 1 by using a disk with a double-layered structure in which a soft magnetic layer is provided on a lower layer of the recording magnetic layer. The magnetic device generates a direct current magnetic field to uniform a magnetic domain state of the soft magnetic layer of the disk. The intensity of the direct current is larger than the anisotropic magnetic field of the soft magnetic layer and is smaller than the coercive force of the recording magnetic layer.
