    Abstract: A color filtering member for improving the brightness of a display device is presented. The color filtering member includes colored regions (e.g., regions with RBG color filters) and black-and-white regions for transmitting white light. The black-and-white regions may be colorless gaps between adjacent colored regions. Multiple planarizing layers may be deposited on the colored regions and the black-and-white regions to form a surface that is sufficiently even. The color filtering member may include an intercepting region that extends between neighboring colored regions. The position of the intercepting region is not centered between the two colored regions that it separates. Rather, the intercepting region is shifted in the direction of rubbing (in the direction of liquid crystal alignment) to more effectively cover the regions where light leakage occurs. This color filtering member may be combined with an array member and a liquid crystal layer to form a display device.

    Abstract: An LED lamp comprises an array of light emitting modules. The light emitting modules each comprise a grille, a heat sink, an LED module and a transparent plate. The grille comprises an inner wall and a frame extending integrally upwards and downwards from the inner wall. The heat sink has a bottom portion thereof extending through the inner wall and has two opposite ends of a top portion thereof abutting the inner wall. The LED module is attached to a top side of the heat sink. The transparent plate is mounted on a top end of the grille and covers the heat sink and the LED module. A plurality of fasteners extend through the inner wall, each having a rotatable resisting portion. The resisting portion presses the heat sink downwardly on the inner wall.

    Abstract: An improved valley-mode switching (VMS) scheme and circuitry for implementing the improved VMS switching scheme in a switch-mode power converter are disclosed. For a given switching cycle, a desired switch turn-on time is determined based on a pulse width modulation, pulse frequency modulation, or other suitable power converter control scheme. Also, one or more times corresponding to local minimums (valleys) are predicted for the voltage across a power switch of the switching power converter. The power switch is turned on at a valley immediately subsequent or otherwise subsequent to the desired switch time determined according to the power converter control scheme. Thus, the improved VMS scheme enables low-voltage switch operation to reduce switching loss and EMI noise without restricting the control scheme of the power converter.
