  • Patent number: 8346508
Abstract: A system and method for diagnosing a home appliance are disclosed. The home appliance outputs product information as a predetermined sound signal, and transmits the sound signal to a service center of a remote site over a communication network, such that a service technician of the service center can easily check a current status of the home appliance. When a diagnostic server of the service center analyzes the sound signal of the home appliance, it selects a plurality of preamble candidates and can effectively and correctly detect data using weights, so that it can quickly diagnose a faulty operation of the home appliance. An erroneous data analysis and its associated erroneous diagnosis are prevented, so that the diagnostic system provides a service for more correctly diagnosing a faulty operation of the home appliance and also increases user satisfaction and reliability of the home appliance.

  • Publication number: 20120328197
Abstract: The disclosure concerns face recognition systems. The aim is to identify candidate matching images to a probe image. There is provided methods, software and computer system to select (22, 24) a method of matching images from two or more methods of matching images based on an underlying resolution (20) of the probe image (8). Comparing two images of differing resolutions is common in surveillance environments. To alleviate this degradation, the method advantageously dynamically selects the most appropriate matching method for a probe image. The disclosure also provided methods to determine the underlying resolution of a probe (8) or gallery image (14).

  • Publication number: 20120281630
Abstract: Wireless access points detect neighboring wireless access points in different subnets. Upon connecting with a wireless client, a wireless access point determines predictive roaming information for the wireless client. Predictive roaming information identifies the wireless client; its home network subnet; and includes connection information associated with the wireless client. The wireless access point forwards the predictive roaming information associated with a wireless client to neighboring wireless access points while the wireless client is still connected with the wireless access point. Neighboring wireless access points store received predictive roaming information. Upon connecting with a wireless client, a neighboring wireless access point determines if the wireless client matches the stored predictive roaming information.
