  • Publication number: 20130044877
Abstract: In a method for generating a data unit for transmission in a wireless network, a physical layer (PHY) preamble is generated. In generating the PHY preamble, a first indicator is generated to indicate at least one of (i) whether the data unit includes data offloaded from a mobile telephony network separate from the wireless network, or (ii) whether the data unit (a) was generated by, or (b) is addressed to, a communication device that supports offloading of data from the mobile telephony network to the wireless network. The first indicator is included in the PHY preamble. Additionally, a media access control layer (MAC) header is generated. The data unit is generated to include the PHY preamble and the MAC header. The data unit is then caused to be transmitted.

  • Publication number: 20130044743
Abstract: A method of generating packets for transmission in a wireless communication system, wherein each packet includes a SIG field that includes a first SIG subfield, includes generating a data packet and a null data packet. Generating the data packet includes generating information bits of the first SIG subfield of the data packet and generating the data portion of the data packet. The information bits of the first SIG subfield of the data packet indicate, to a receiving device, a length corresponding to a data portion of the data packet. Generating the null data packet includes generating information bits of the first SIG subfield of the null data packet. The information bits of the first SIG subfield of the null data packet indicate, to a receiving device, a first physical layer (PHY) parameter value associated with the null data packet. The first PHY parameter value is not a length value.

  • Publication number: 20130041862
Abstract: A Bayesian Inference based recommendation system in a social network is provided. The method and system utilizes content ratings from a querying initiator's friends and their friends depending on the time to live (TTL) and other factors. Receiving users send to the querying initiator recommendation ratings from their friends and a conditional probability of distribution of the recommendation ratings given by the recommender's rooted at the friend. Once this information has been obtained from the friend/hopped friend network, the querying initiator's recommendation query engine constructs the QI's own rating response using the Bayesian Inference Network.

  • Publication number: 20130001770
Abstract: Wafer level embedded and stacked die power system-in-package semiconductor devices, and methods for making and using the same, are described. The methods include placing a first side of a substrate frame, which includes through cavity and an adjacent via, on a carrier. A first side of a component selected from an active device and a passive device can be placed on the carrier, within the cavity. A perimeter of the cavity can be attached to a perimeter of the component. Material at a second side of the substrate frame can be removed so the via extends from the frame's first side to the frame's second side. The substrate frame and component can then be removed from the carrier so that routing can be distributed between the first side of the frame and the first side of the component to electrically connect the component with the via. Other embodiments are described.
