    Abstract: A system for transmitting a digital broadcasting signal includes a supplementary reference signal (SRS) inserter receiving a dual transport stream in which a normal stream and a turbo stream are multiplexed, and inserting an SRS into a stuffing region provided in the dual transport stream, a Reed-Solomon encoder encoding the dual transport stream having the SRS inserted therein, an interleaver interleaving the encoded dual transport stream, a turbo processor detecting and encoding the turbo stream from the interleaved dual transport stream, stuffing the dual transport stream with the encoded turbo stream, and compensating for a parity corresponding to the encoded turbo stream, and a trellis/parity corrector performing a trellis encoding of the dual transport stream processed by the turbo processor, which can robustly process a turbo stream included in the dual transport stream and easily confirm the channel state between a transmitter side and a receiver side.

    Abstract: A dual transmission stream processing device includes an adaptor which receives a normal stream and generates an adaptation field in each packet of the normal stream; a stuffer which generates a dual transmission stream by stuffing a turbo stream into the adaptation field in a certain packet of the packets constructing the normal stream; and a supplementary reference signal stuffer which reconstructs the dual transmission stream such that a supplementary reference signal, the turbo stream, and the normal stream are combined by stuffing the supplementary reference signal into a first area which is part of the adaptation field of the packets constructing the normal stream. Accordingly, the channel status can be easily acquired as the turbo stream and the normal stream are transmitted effectively.

The duplicator provides the parity insertion region using a 1/2-rate conversion method or 1/4-rate conversion method. Only the turbo stream is detected prior to the transmission of the dual transport stream, and the parity is inserted into the parity insertion region so that the turbo stream can be robustly processed.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method to generate a dual transport stream. The apparatus includes an eraser encoder to receive a turbo stream and to eraser-encode the turbo stream, a duplicator to provide a parity insertion region for the eraser-encoded turbo stream, and a multiplexer to receive a normal stream and to multiplex the turbo stream processed by the duplicator and the normal stream to generate the dual transport stream. The duplicator provides the parity insertion region using a ½-rate conversion method or ¼-rate conversion method. Only the turbo stream is detected prior to the transmission of the dual transport stream, and the parity is inserted into the parity insertion region, so that the turbo stream can be robustly processed.

A second multiplexer selectively outputs one of a predetermined second bit of the dual transmission stream and a value stored in a second memory according to the external control signal.
