  • Patent number: 4393422
Abstract: A device for intermittently driving a magnetic tape has a capstan for driving the magnetic tape, a motor directly connected to the capstan for driving the capstan, a tachometer for detecting the rotating speed of the motor and producing an output, and a speed control having a settable speed controller for setting a desired motor speed and into which the output from the tachometer is fed back for enabling the speed control to sense when the motor is rotating at the desired motor speed. An intermittent drive control is provided for supplying a triggering signal to trigger said settable speed controller to cause the settable speed controller to operate the speed control for accelerating the motor to the desired motor speed and driving it at that speed, the intermittent drive control supplying the triggering signal in response to a speed setting signal and a head switch signal.

  • Patent number: 4350409
Abstract: This invention relates to the field of electrical connectors, and particularly concerns electrical connectors with multiple contacts requiring keying of the mating connector parts. With prior art devices, when more than one connector pair is used in a system, different connector parts must be chosen which have a different keying configuration for the key and groove. With another prior art device, which uses a single type connector part, it is necessary to sacrifice one contact position in the connectors. The present invention overcomes the deficiencies of the prior art noted above by providing a keying device which permits manufacture and production of a single type of male or female connector part and yet does not require the sacrifice of contact positions within the connector parts to effectuate the keying.

  • Patent number: 4344023
Abstract: A drive system for a brushless dc motor to control the magnitude of the torque of a motor which has permanent magnet rotor and Hall generators. Multipliers determine the magnitude of current to each phase armature winding so as to determine the current sharing rate among the armature windings according to the rotation angle of the rotor, whereby degrading of torque uniformity due to variation of Hall generator characteristics is avoided. Each multiplier multiplies 2 signals, one being the output of the Hall generator, the other being the difference between the torque control input and the fed back signal of total armature current. Also a torque direction input is supplied to each multiplier to determine the direction of the rotational torque.

  • Patent number: 4211967
Abstract: A motor speed adjusting apparatus comprising a motor, a motor speed setting device such as an up-down counter, a programmable divider the divisor of which is programmed by the motor speed setting device, a reference signal generator, a phase comparator which generates a d.c. voltage corresponding to the phase difference between the reference frequency signal and the output signal of the programmable divider, and a voltage controlled oscillator which oscillates at a frequency corresponding to the output of the phase comparator. The motor speed is adjusted according to the output frequency of the oscillator by step deviation from the standard motor speed, and further that deviation is displayed by a display device controlled by the motor speed setting device.

  • Patent number: 4188086
Abstract: An improved connector for terminating flexible parallel conductors in which a male part has a length of distal surface about which an end of a flexible group of parallel conductors is bent. The male part, with the group of parallel conductors bent thereabout is inserted into a female part having a closed slot therein and a plurality of contacts along one of the walls thereof. Upon mating of the two connector parts, the contacts of the female part electrically engages respective ones of the parallel conductors. Various means are provided for keeping the conductors aligned during the mating action and latch members on both male and female parts cooperate to releasably secure the two parts together.

  • Patent number: 4168879
Abstract: A contact element of an electric connector to be mated with a flat flexible film circuit board. The contact element affords a good electrical connection and also easy disengagement of the circuit board by providing a semi-conical projection on the end of its spring portion and by providing a slant surface from the conical projection to an end of the spring portion.

  • Patent number: 4148547
Abstract: A female electrical contact for making electrical contact with a mating male pin contact. The female contact is formed from a single piece of sheet metal and includes a pair of opposed contact leaves encased in the end of a tubular member of rectangular cross section. The tubular member has a closed end with a small aperture at its center, opening into between the two opposing contact leaves. The base for the contact leaves is U-shaped and has a pair of tabs which are bent to retain one of the rectangular faces of the tubular member in firm fixed position. The closed end may be concave to provide a camming action for the male pin to be inserted in the aperture therein. Additionally, a terminal strip portion can be provided extending from the U-shaped face to provide connection for an external conductor. Opposite sides of the tubular member can be foreshortened to bear against the two leaves to aid in biasing the leaves inwardly toward one another.

  • Patent number: 4105935
Abstract: A motor speed control apparatus has a frequency generator for generating a frequency signal the frequency of which is proportional to the motor speed; a first pulse generator for producing a first pulse train having the same period as that of the frequency signal, each pulse of the first pulse train having a pulse width which is shorter than the period of the frequency signal and decreases as the frequency of the frequency signal increases; a second pulse generator for producing a second pulse train, the leading edges of the pulses of the second pulse train coinciding in timing with those of the first pulse train, each pulse of the second pulse train having a constant pulse width nearly the same as that of each pulse of the first pulse train obtained by the motor rotation at a predetermined speed; and a subtractor for producing a third pulse train by the subtraction of the pulses of the first pulse train and the corresponding pulses of the second pulse train, whereby there is produced a motor torque in corres
