  • Patent number: 4765296
Abstract: A throttle valve control apparatus for a vehicle engine, whereby a reference degree of opening of the throttle valve is derived based on the accelerator pedal actuation position and is then corrected in accordance with vehicle operating conditions to obtain a target degree of opening of the throttle valve. An upper limit opening degree and a lower limit opening degree of the throttle valve are also derived, and if the target opening degree, which is obtained on the basis of the vehicle operating conditions, is found to be greater than the upper limit opening degree, then the upper limit opening degree is used as the target opening degree. Similarly, if the target opening degree, which is determined from the vehicle operating conditions, is less than the lower limit opening degree, then the lower limit opening degree is used as the target opening degree.

  • Patent number: 4590564
Abstract: A method of controlling the supply of fuel to an internal combustion engine, wherein the value of at least one operating parameter of the engine is detected in synchronism with generation of pulses of a control signal generated at predetermined crank angle positions of the engine, and fuel is supplied to the engine in a quantity responsive to the detected value of the at least one operating parameter.

  • Patent number: 4548181
Abstract: A control method of supplying an internal combustion engine with required quantities of fuel appropriate to operating conditions of the engine, in synchronism with pulses of a control signal generated at predetermined crank angle positions of the engine. When the engine is operating in a predetermined accelerating condition, a correction variable for increasing the fuel supply quantity for supply to the engine at acceleration is determined as a function of the number of pulses of the above control signal generated after the predetermined accelerating condition has been detected for the first time, as well as of the rate of change of the value of a predetermined operating parameter indicative of the engine load which is detected in synchronism with a predetermined sampling signal, to thereby set a quantity of fuel for supply to the engine at acceleration.

  • Patent number: 4513723
Abstract: A fuel supply control method for an internal combustion engine, which supplies fuel to the engine in quantities appropriate to operating conditions thereof in synchronism with generation of pulses of a predetermined control signal. A plurality of groups of predetermined correction values for increasing the quantity of fuel to be supplied to the engine at acceleration thereof are set beforehand, which are functions of at least two operating parameters of the engine. When the engine is determined to be operating in a predetermined accelerating condition for the first time, values of the above at least two operating parameters are detected upon the same determination being obtained. One of the groups of predetermined correction values is selected, which corresponds to the detected values of the at least two operating parameters.

  • Patent number: 4365607
Abstract: A smaller diameter tube mounted to an air inlet tube of the air cleaner is disposed in a larger diameter tube mounted on an exhaust manifold cover with an adequate clearance therebetween, so that the heated air in the interior of the exhaust manifold cover is dischargeable to the open air through the clearance.

  • Patent number: 4329968
Abstract: An internal combustion engine equipped with a blowby gas recirculation system is provided with a jackshaft which is driven by a crankshaft and rotatably supported in a crankcase to operate engine accessories. A rotational part of a centrifugal oil separator is securely connected to an end of the jackshaft to be rotatable with the jackshaft, thereby effectively separating engine oil mist from blowby gas which is sucked through the oil separator to an intake manifold.

  • Patent number: 4129043
Abstract: An engine compartment has accommodated therein not only a transversely mounted engine but also accessories within a space available adjacent the engine and over a transmission. The accessories are driven by an accessory drive shaft which transmits torque from a crankshaft of the engine to the accessories. The accessory drive shaft is rotatably supported by the engine. The drive torque is transmitted from a front end of the crankshaft to the accessories through the accessory drive shaft.

  • Patent number: 4102616
Abstract: A rotary piston internal combustion engine of the epitrochoidal type is provided with means whereby the cooling effect of a cooling liquid medium on a trailing chamber portion of the combustion chamber is reduced or eliminated. Thus a tendency that the mixture portion within the trailing chamber portion is discharged unburned with the exhaust is eliminated, thus improving the fuel economy and HC control in the exhaust.
