  • Patent number: 6313915
Abstract: A displacement measuring method and apparatus can measure positions and displacements of measurement objects with high precision without regard to surface roughness. Optical beams emitted from a light source are converged through an objective lens, are incident on a surface of the measurement object, are reflected off the surface of the measurement object, and are received by an optical detector. In measurement of the surface of the measurement object, optical-intensity curves are defined while the objective lens is being shifted in the optical-axis direction. According to optical-intensity curves thus defined, a threshold Pth is defined, a center of gravity of a graph region surrounded by the optical-intensity curve is defined, and the focal point of the objective lens, when positioned at the center of gravity, is determined to be the position of a surface of the measurement object.

  • Publication number: 20010034745
Abstract: There is disclosed an invention for generating contract information for an image forming apparatus for which the user is going to conclude a contract. The history information of an image forming apparatus used by the user and having a contract history is stored and managed in correlation with the user. Such management is executed in a center server capable communication with the image forming apparatus through a predetermined communication channel. The above-mentioned information includes contract term, machine type, number of print outputs etc. of the image forming apparatus. Also the image forming apparatus to be managed includes that currently contracted and that contracted in the past. In case the user wishes to conclude a new contract for an image forming apparatus, new contract information is generated according to the history information managed by the center server in correlation with the user. This invention provides a system capable of realizing the foregoing.

  • Patent number: 6088138
Abstract: An image forming apparatus arranged to receive image information from a memory device for storing color image information and then to form an image on an image-forming medium. This apparatus allows an operator to specify the size and the layout of a color image to be formed on the image-forming medium while viewing a display provided on a monitor device. The apparatus can change the size of the color image information read from the memory device to the required magnification in accordance with a command given by the specifying element, thereby producing a printout. In this case, the operator can adjust the image quality of image information to be printed out while visually confirming the quality of the image displayed on the monitor device, whereby no proof printout is needed.
