  • Patent number: 4680534
Abstract: A main switch consisting of a switching transistor and a current transformer is triggered at the leading edge of a main switch drive pulse. The switching transistor then starts a positive feedback operation through the current transformer and is turned on at high speed. Upon activation of the switching transistor, the magnetic core of the current transformer is saturated by the switching transistor emitter current flowing in the current transformer. Magnetic saturation of the core turns off the switching transistor with the magnetic energy stored in the current transformer. The main switch drive pulse falls after the switching transistor is turned off.

  • Patent number: 4271834
Abstract: A disposable portable mask for emergency use in a contaminated atmosphere is disclosed, which mask comprises a sponge of adequate size to cover a user's mouth and nostrils. The sponge is impregnated with water or an aqueous solution of an acidic salt, or weak alkali salt, for adsorption of toxic acidic gases passed therethrough. Perfume may be included in the sponge to mask any disagreeable odors of the sponge or liquid materials employed. The liquid-containing sponge is compressed and sealed within a fluid-tight container of plastic, or the like, to prevent evaporation of the liquid from the sponge. The overall package is of small size for ease in carrying in a person's pocket, handbag, or the like, so as to have a mask available for ready use at all times with a minimum of inconvenience. For use in case of an emergency, the mask is removed from the container and placed over the person's mouth and nostrils for adsorbing toxic gases breathed therethrough, preventing inhalation thereof.

  • Patent number: 4157111
Abstract: A method of heat-treating and, particularly, annealing, a ductile cast iron pipe in the form as centrifugally held against the wall of a centrifugal casting mold. The casting within the mold is heat-treated by introducing a hot gas of elevated temperature into the hollow of the casting. At the initial stage, the casting within the mold is in red-hot condition and, therefore, introduction of the hot gas into the hollow of the casting results in control of the dissipitation of heat energies from the red-hot casting to delay or slow down a cooling rate of the casting.
