  • Patent number: 4791289
Abstract: A linear scale measuring device capable of minimizing an error in measuring which occurs due to vibration and/or shock, carrying out the mounting on a machine tool or the like at a sufficient degree of freedom and being efficiently assembled. The device includes a slider having an index scale arranged opposite to a main scale and adapted to be moved in relation to the main scale and a stationary link to which the slider is securely connected. The slider is connected to the stationary link at two positions defined along a movement direction of the slider by an elastic connection means comprising a coil spring and a wire spring which act to force the slider toward the main scale.

  • Patent number: 4748435
Abstract: A high-voltage resistance wire for use in an engine ignition device has a resistive conductor, an insulating layer covering the resistive conductor, and a protctive sheath layer surrounding the insulating layer. The protective sheath layer is loosely fitted to the insulating layer so as to provide a gap of 0.1 mm or greater therebetween. The gap results in a small electrostatic capacitance between the innermost resistive conductor and the outermost protective which improves the ignitability of the resistance wire. Additionally, the protective sheath layer is formed by impregnating or coating silicone resin or fluororesin into or onto a tubular fiber braided body of glass or polyaramide fiber. The protective sheath has an improved flexibility and tearing strength from an end terminal.

  • Patent number: 4745509
Abstract: In a magnetic head of perpendicular magnetization type having main and sub magnetic poles arranged at both sides of a recording medium, a nonmagnetic supporter holding a high permeability magnetic thin layer of the main magnetic pole is formed by a polycrystalline sintered body substantially composed of titanium carbide and alumina. This polycrystalline sintered product well matches with a recording medium having a cobalt-chromium alloy layer so that the recording medium does not wear for a long time of use, and therefore, so that the contact surface of the main magnetic pole is hardly damaged. The same sintered body may also be used for the sub magnetic pole arranged to be in contact with the recording medium. Some structural improvements are also provided so that undesirable influence due to an adhesive layer adjacent to the magnetic thin layer is removed. One or more additional thin layers may be provided for reducing crosstalk between adjacent tracks.

  • Patent number: 4721098
Abstract: In an endoscope apparatus, an inserting instrument is insertable through an inserting portion of an endoscope so as to have a distal end portion projected from a distal end of the inserting portion. The inserting instrument comprises an outer tubular envelope and an elongated rod-like member located at a distal end of the envelope. An operating device located at a proximal end of the envelope is connected to the rod-like member through a wire member extending through the envelope. The rod-like member is operated to be moved between an inoperative position where the longitudinal axis of the rod-like member extends substantially in coaxial relation to the envelope and an operative position where the longitudinal axis of the rod-like member extends across an extended line of the envelope. The inserting instrument may be utilized as guiding and/or measuring instrument.

  • Patent number: 4682080
Abstract: A discharge lamp operating device having a high frequency inverter is discharged. Connected to a secondary winding of an oscillation transformer of the high frequency inverter is a discharge current supply circuit having a switch for controlling supply of a discharge current to dim a fluorescent lamp. An electrode heating circuit is connected to secondary windings of the transformer to continuously heat electrodes. An oscillation frequency of the inverter is controlled such that it increases as a dimming factor is high and decreases as the dimming factor is low. A capacitor is connected in series with a path of an electrode heating current in the electrode heating circuit so that the heating current is increased when the dimming factor is high and decreased when it is low by utilizing a frequency dependency of an impedance of the capacitor.

  • Patent number: 4627086
Abstract: A plasma X-ray source is operable, like the plasma focus type source, to generate impulse discharge through a gas filled in a discharge tube. A relatively small amount of the gas is continuously supplied to and evacuated from the discharge tube in accordance with an occurrence frequency of discharge, without operating evacuation and filling of the gas at each cycle of discharge, under the regulation to make constant the pressure within the discharge tube, thereby eliminating the time for exchange of gas contaminated by discharge, reducing the amount of gas used, and improving reproducibility of discharge.

  • Patent number: 4503359
Abstract: Disclosed is a discharge lamp lighting device which comprises a series closed-loop circuit including an AC power supply, a ballast having an inductance, and a discharge lamp, and a switch circuit in parallel to the discharge lamp. The switch circuit is turned on when the voltage across the discharge lamp is reduced to zero, and then turned off when the current flowing in the switch reaches a predetermined value. The switch circuit thus repeats its on-off operation every half cycle of the voltage across the discharge lamp. The electromagnetic energy is stored in the inductance of the ballast when the switch circuit is on, and the stored electromagnetic energy is superimposed on the source voltage and applied to the discharge lamp when the switch circuit is turned off, thus reigniting the discharge lamp every half cycle. This makes it possible to light directly a discharge lamp having a lamp voltage approximate to the source voltage.

  • Patent number: 4438373
Abstract: A low pressure metal vapor discharge lamp has a double-tube type discharge vessel consisting of a fully closed outer glass bulb and an inner glass tube substantially coaxially disposed in the outer glass bulb, the inner glass tube being closed at its fixed end and opened at its free end. The space within the discharge vessel is filled with a small amount of a metal and a rare gas of a low pressure. A single cathode is disposed within the space inside the inner glass tube, while a plurality of anodes are disposed in the annular space between the inner glass tube and the outer glass bulb. According to the invention, a number of discharge channels corresponding to that of the anodes are formed between the single cathode and respective anodes, via the opening end brim of the inner glass tube. In operation, anode oscillations take place alternately in respective anodes to cause a self-excitation switching operation, so that a plurality of plasmas are formed.
