  • Publication number: 20040045129
Abstract: A hinge mechanism of an image forming apparatus supporting a platen cover for holding an original at a fixed position on a platen glass includes a hinge unit for supporting the platen cover in such a manner that the platen cover can be opened and closed by swinging it up and down, a compression coil spring for biasing the platen cover in its opening direction, and a hinge holder attached to a housing of the apparatus for accommodating the compression coil spring. The hinge unit is provided with a hinge torque keeping mechanism which causes the compression coil spring to produce a specific amount of hinge torque to bias the platen cover in its opening direction even when the platen cover is closed.

  • Patent number: 6198492
Abstract: The opposing electrode has an opposing portion facing the peripheral surface of the toner support and a brush portion formed of a partial circumferential surface continuous to both ends of the opposing portion. The opposing electrode is rotated about a rotary axis disposed at the center of the partial circumference forming the brush portion. When the opposing electrode rotates, the brush portion comes into contact with the undersurface of the control electrode. The opposing electrode is applied with a high voltage, e.g. 2 kV from a high-voltage power source so that the brush portion can remove the toner adhering to the control electrode.

  • Patent number: 6084613
Abstract: The array pitch `d` between the control electrode strips with respect to the conveyed direction of the recording medium is determined based on the order of applying operating voltage, the resolution `x` of the image with respect to the conveyed direction, and the number `m` of the control electrode strips. Illustratively, in order to obtain a particular resolution `x` with respect to the conveyed direction of the paper, by taking into consideration the reduction in dot interval or conveyed distance by the conveyance of the recording paper, the array pitch `d` between the control electrode strips with respect to the conveyed direction of the recording medium is set as the dot distance produced when the paper is not moved, plus the above reduction. This can be written as d=(n+1/m)/x where n is a natural number.

  • Patent number: 5822001
Abstract: A cassette eject mechanism for a recording or reproducing apparatus can remove a cassette eject button from a housing and can reliably eject a tape cassette only when a tape cassette should be loaded or unloaded. A battery loading mechanism for an electronic equipment can make the loading of battery simple and reliable, and becomes easy to handle. The locking mechanism can be simplified in structure so that the number of assembly parts can considerably be reduced. Further, a mechanical chassis supporting mechanism in a recording apparatus is for use with an apparatus in which a mechanical chassis or cabinet can be reduced in thickness. According to this mechanical chassis supporting mechanism, it is possible to prevent an external stress from being applied to the mechanical chassis as a twisting deform force.

  • Patent number: 5765044
Abstract: An apparatus for photographing the ground continuously from an airplane, and for recording the photographed images in digital form in real time. A three-line sensor camera comprising a forward-oblique line sensor, a vertical line sensor and a backward-oblique line sensor is on board. The three-line sensor camera has a gyro integrally connected thereto. Data of the camera's attitude available from the gyro, digital data of the land images available from the camera and data of the airplane's position available from an airborne GPS are recorded and reproduced. The camera is controlled with the aid of the gyro so that its optical axis may be held in a vertical direction at all times.

  • Patent number: 4899277
Abstract: A bore hole scanner includes a light projecting device for projecting a light beam toward a bore hole wall surface. A conical mirror is arranged coaxially with respect to a sonde for condensing light reflected from the bore hole wall surface. An image forming device is arranged in front of the conical mirror. A photoelectric transducing device converts a light signal into an electric signal. Optical fibers introduce an image, which is formed on concentric circles by the image forming device to the photoelectric transducing device. A data processing device scans and extracts signals from the photoelectric transducing device and generates and processes image data indicative of the bore hole wall surface. A sonde position detecting device detects the orientation and position of the sonde. Rotating portions are dispensed with by using the conical mirror and optical fibers, and a linear CCD array can be used as the photoelectric transducing device.

  • Patent number: 4779201
Abstract: An optical head (12) is rotated while a sonde (11) is moved up or down within a bore hole (22), and a beam of light from a light source (22) is projected toward the wall of the bore hole (22) via a lens (21), slit (22), half-mirror (19), mirror (15) and lens (14). Light reflected from the bore hole wall is extracted from the half-mirror (19) via a slit (17) and a photoelectric transducer (18) so that the bore hole wall may be continuously observed. By separating the reflected light into spectral components and processing them, color tone logging and other observations can be performed. The orientation of the sonde (11) is sensed by an azimuth finder (23) and rotation gauge (24), and the inclination of the sonde (11) is sensed by a dipmeter (25). Displacement of the sonde accompanying each unit length of up-or-down movement of the sonde (11) is calculated and the displacements are integrated to obtain the position being observed by the sonde.
