    Abstract: An aerodynamic structure for use on an upper surface of an aircraft wing is disclosed. The wing includes a slat operable between a stowed configuration in which the slat is stowed in a slat recess of the wing, and a deployed configuration in which the slat extends out of the slat recess. When the slat is in the deployed configuration, an end face of the slat recess is exposed, the end face intersecting with the upper surface of the wing at a recess edge. The aerodynamic structure, adjacent to the recess edge, has a volume shaped to encourage air flowing over the recess edge onto the upper surface during flight, to remain attached.

    Abstract: The present invention features a stretchable strain sensor for detecting minute amounts of strain or pressure. The stretchable strain sensor may comprise a first soft polymer layer, a wrinkled conductive layer disposed on the first soft polymer layer, and a second soft polymer layer disposed on the wrinkled conductive layer. Strain applied to the sensor may cause the wrinkled conductive layer to stretch and crack and send a signal based on resistance. Pressure applied to the sensor may cause the wrinkled conductive layer to deform and crack and send a signal based on resistance. The stretchable strain sensor may be capable of measuring contractions of a tissue, detecting fluid flowing through a microfluidic channel, and detecting whether a microfluidic valve is closed or not.

    Abstract: This invention describes a design for a multiwell plate that contains integrated pumps that are used to stir each well of the plate. The device employs microfluidic logic technology to drive each peristaltic pump. This enables the plates to run autonomously, requiring only a static vacuum supply for power. The devices are entirely constructed out of low-cost polymers, with no electronics, and yet contains simple digital logic circuits to control the pumps. A stack of these plates may be run continuously in a standard cell culture incubator, allowing high-throughput culture of organoids.

    Abstract: A super-tough steel and a production method thereof. The present invention belongs to the field of steels and preparation thereof, and particularly relates to a super-tough steel for cryogenic services, and a production method thereof. The super-tough steel comprises the following elements in percentage by weight: 0.10% to 0.15% of C, and 29.5% to 31.5% of Mn, with the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities. The production method comprises the following steps: A1, smelting with argon protection, and electroslag remelting; A2, hot rolling or hot forging; A, annealing at 900° C. to 1100° C. for 1 hour, and quenching; and A4, cold rolling, annealing of the cold-rolled plate at 700° C.-1200° C. for 1 hour, and quenching after annealing. The steel is simple in composition and does not contain precious metals; and the steel has an average grain size of less than 30 microns, and is non-magnetic with complete face-centered cubic structure.
