    Abstract: The present invention has as an object thereof to efficiently execute a plurality of I/O commands in a secondary storage device. The tags of the I/O commands which are issued from a data processing device to a secondary storage device comprise the tag A part and the tag B part. The same value is attached as the tag A part to a group of I/O commands which are to be executed in a continuous manner. Values of the tag B parts are provided in order to distinguish I/O commands having the same value of the tag A part. In the secondary storage device, when an I/O command is received from the data processing device, when it is shown by the tag B part that the I/O command is the first command in an I/O command group, or alternatively, when an I/O command having the same tag A part value is not stored in the queue, the I/O command received is added to the final end of the queue.

    Abstract: A method of making an alloy powder for an R—Fe—B-type rare earth magnet includes the steps of preparing a material alloy that is to be used for forming the R—Fe—B-type rare earth magnet and that has a chilled structure that constitutes about 2 volume percent to about 20 volume percent of the material alloy, coarsely pulverizing the material alloy for the R—Fe—B-type rare earth magnet by utilizing a hydrogen occlusion phenomenon to obtain a coarsely pulverized powder, finely pulverizing the coarsely pulverized powder and removing at least some of fine powder particles having particle sizes of about 1.0 &mgr;m or less from the finely pulverized powder, thereby reducing the volume fraction of the fine powder particles with the particle sizes of about 1.0 &mgr;m or less, and covering the surface of remaining ones of the powder particles with a lubricant after the step of removing has been performed.

A ratio of a content of C to a total content of B and C is about 0.05 to about 0.90.

    Abstract: The method of producing an R—Fe—B magnet of the present invention is characterized in that R—Fe—B alloy fine powder is molded in a magnetic field and sintered using a lubricant for molding magnets containing specific components, individually or as a mixture, of specific amounts of methyl caproate and/or methyl caprylate, which provide high crystal orientation, and lubricant comprising depolymerized polymer for improving molded article strength, or a lubricant for molding magnets wherein Ti coupling agent that improves crystal orientation is added to this lubricant for molding magnets. Each particle of the fine powder has a high degree of crystal orientation in the direction of the magnetic field, and molded article strength is markedly improved, leading to improved mass-productivity and yield. Moreover, the above-mentioned lubricants do not react with this magnet powder during sintering and are emitted as a gas.

    Abstract: It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for manufacturing a raw material alloy powder that can be utilized effectively in the regeneration of surplus or defective R--Fe--B type sintered magnets while leaving the main phase crystal grains alone, and a method for manufacturing an R--Fe--B type magnet. Surplus or defective R--Fe--B type sintered magnets are pulverized, acid washed, and dried, after which this product is subjected to a calcium reduction treatment and washed to remove the calcium component, which allows a raw material alloy powder composed of an Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B main phase system, which contributes the most to magnet characteristics, to be regenerated efficiently. An alloy powder for compositional adjustment that improves sintering and adjusts the composition is added to this main phase system raw material alloy powder to produce a sintered magnet, which facilitates the manufacture of a sintered magnet with superior magnet characteristics.

    Abstract: A wire-cut EDM method and apparatus for machining to a fine surface roughness of 1 .mu.m Rmax or less. Two power supplies and a electrode polarity switching system are used. A first high energy power source is used for initial profile cutting and may also be used for one or more later cuts while the machining pulse parameters, and feed rate and offset are adjusted for increasing less rough surface finishes. The wire electrode is held at negative machining potential. A second power supply and smaller offset values are used for later cuts to create lower values of surface roughness, while still maintaining the wire electrode at a negative machining potential. Finally, in order to create a fine finished surface (Rmax.ltoreq.1 .mu.m), the offset is further reduced and the wire electrode polarity is reversed.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a radio apparatus in which modulating signals (I, Q signals) from an arithmetic/control unit are converted to analog signals, which are then applied to an orthogonal modulator. A modulated wave for transmission, which has been produced by orthogonally modulating a reference carrier wave by the modulating signals, is demodulated by the orthogonal detector. The arithmetic/control unit compares the modulating signals and the demodulated signals and, based upon the comparison, updates distortion compensation coefficients and applies pre-distortion processing to the modulating signal using the distortion compensation coefficients. Leakage carrier produced due to offset of the orthogonal modulator is detected and the arithmetic/control unit adjusts the level of the modulating signals or shifts the phase of the reference carrier wave in such a manner that the leakage carrier (offset) becomes zero.
